As the title suggests. Gerty posted a cracking photo on FaceBook of an early Iris.

Who's going to get the best shot/photo by the end of the year ?
Cameras out boys and girls.
-
Thanks for posting this Fly xxxxx
Can we submit more than one?
-
As many as you wish all year long. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
We'll pick a winner at the end of the year.
Sorry Pete, I've just started something you knew sod all about.

Lovely photo Gerty, I'm not that good at photography :(
-
Thank you for that Pam. In my view though, everyone's images are special......for a multitude of reasons. It doesn't have to be technically correct, so its the appeal value that's the important bit. The image, however it comes out will mean something to the photographer or they wouldn't have wanted to capture it in the first instance. I could write reams on these reasons!
Taking pictures is my hobby but I confess that for every 20 images I capture, there may only be 3 or 4 that are any good (to my eye anyway). I have a folder on my laptop titled 'Shite shots' which is where all the crap gets filed! :))

This is a great shot Pete. I've been meaning to take a similar one with daughter's violin. But it's in the loft, which means it may never see light of day again ::)
-
Thanks Gert, was playing with my macro lens.
>> I've been meaning to take a similar one with daughter's violin. But it's in the loft, which means it may never see light of day again
Shame she doesn't still play. :(
-
Would have loved to have got some shots of the Uk's 'Northern Lights' show last :(
What a spectacle that would have been
-
It is a shame, I agree. :(
She used to play the sax as well but sold it towards the deposit for her house. She won't sell the violin though as it has links to her grandad.
-
Tried, but just wasn't happening LOL ;)

-
One and only time Gerty
-
That's a brilliant photo opportunity OC - almost surreal.
-
We were sat in the garden at the time and noticed it up there.
I remember remarking that I didn't think Peacocks went as high as that, obviously they can and do
-
I took this on a holiday several years ago.
It's the Acapulco Cliff Divers.

Question 1 - is that a cow or sheep?
Question 2 - why are you allowing it to hump the cat ::)
-
Neither, it's Miss Doggy, she goes everywhere with Our_Lass.
Here she is in Salou.

This is my winter greenhouse lodger. Flew the nest today. Gave us a glorious display first though. Just wish I could have got a better pic.
-
>> Just wish I could have got a better pic.
Story of my life poppy...
I've spent decent amount on my camera and lenses, but I never have them with me when I see that magic shot...
So I try to get the shot on my phone, but it's never the same. :-[

Been for a walk at Ogston Res this afternoon. Look who I found having his dinner in the hedge bottom.

Great photo's Poppy and Fly - Fly that would be dessert for our Flash ;)
I took my camera out with me today - didn't spot anything worth taking though :(

Our_Lass burst out laughing and commented that it was the same flower ;)
I've checked the Exif data, the pictures were taken 42 minutes apart.
-
Fab set of photo's today. Great contributions :)
-
I love crocuses sadly they don't last long.
Lovely photo Fly

One from Poolsbrook ponds this morning. I think the goose was telling me I was too close!

Lovely Gerty - geese can be nasty little blighters at times, was once pecked by one, lucky for me I had on calf length boots"

Agreed OC!!! I was a paper lad (luckily I never blew away!! :)) ) and I had to deliver to a farm that had geese, I tried everything to avoid them but couldn't. I ended up refusing to deliver their papers!
-
Alsatian - I was a stout milkmaid at the time :)).
Little devils made good guard Geese though

As Slacker will no doubt confirm you give the Canadian Geese in Queen's Park a wide berth as well

Amazing, isn't it? I wish I could say it was mine - but it's not...
Photographer Matt Molloy has begun experimenting with time-lapse sequences by taking hundreds of images as the sun set and the clouds moved through the sky.
-
Lovely - just love the darkened house in the background
-
This is my old vintage typewriter bought for my 14th birthday!

Nice one Gert. :)

Brilliant Gerty. It looks in good nick as well :)

Not the best photo I've taken, but a lovely sight on Spring morning walk.
-
Was thrilled to see an owl the other morning, it was only when I got a little closer and zoomed in,
I realised it wasn't real, Bugger :(

Nice pic Flyboy. :)
Looks better without the date stamp.

Yes, cut and paste from original date stamped pic mate ;D
-
I think they might be something other than daisies, Fly. Suspiciously like buttercups
Either way, they are lovely - nice and bright, a sign of spring and hopefulness ;D
-
I meant buttercups Gerty, dont know why I put daisies LOL :))

Nice shot Fly. :)
-
Cut and paste from this shot. I didn't dare get any closer, didn't want it to 'hop it'
Not sure if people have seen my photo on FB of the camera parts.
I've had a couple of the same model over the last few years, dropped, smashed, broken screens etc.
I've rebuilt mine today. Different body, battery compartment door and spring etc.
I love the fact I can cut and paste small areas of a shot and not lose clarity with this model camera.
Would love a DSLR but can't see the point in the expense when this little Kodak is so good ;D

Flipping Heck could spit feathers!
I was sat in the lounge and wondered who had put the hose pipe on as i thought hubby had gone down the village.
I stood up to see the bird bath surrounded by birds around the side waiting their turn to step into the tub.
The birds in the water were having a great time and the water was cascading up into a fountain - eat your heart out Chatsworth :))
and no you guessed I hadn't got my camera with me >:(
-
Will look forward to looking at them Simon :)
There might be some random ones just to try it out. Hopefully the 63x Optical zoom will get some good shots!

Mickey Mouse on the chimney stack, and the meshing visible in the Spire 'windows'.

Blimey thats a good zoom and still decent picture quality.
-
I prefer the picture quality over the zoom. I can see me and this camera getting on OK :)

Had a walk round the pond near Dobbies at Barlbrough. Parked at the back of the NHS building.
Our_Lass saw this, it was hanging on a twig . .

So what is it ?
I also learnt something today, sort of.
Zooming into a well took captured shot is better than trying to zoom into the subject you are taking a shot of.

Looks like a nest
-
Not a bird's nest. We saw some more smaller ones dotted about the place too.
-
No I wasn't meaning a birds nest Fly they are much tighter - mouse?
-
I'm thinking more insect OC.
-
Not really up on insect nests Fly, apart from wasps ( which by the way I haven't seen many of this year thank goodness!! ).
It looks like a slug has been round it :)
-
These flowers are the last ones flowering in my garden right now. They are such a lovely colourful sight out of my kitchen window. I think they are Osteospermums. If anyone can identify them differently do let me know.
-
Took this at Ladybower today. I was astonished to find the water levels so low at this time of year. I don't want to pray for a deluge, but it sure looks like it could use a lengthy spell of rain to get the levels up.

If the water level drops more perhaps we will see the ghost village of Derwent.
