Isn't it the Six Halts?

I was driving and just managed a quick look, but noticed the name above the door.
It's a Marstons and I think will serve Generous George food.

We only saw the sign briefly so it's Six Halts, still an odd name for a pub then again theirs a few strange ones at Sheffield. I wounded why they chose it?

No idea WCT but did you know there is a pub to be built on the land opposite the Cineworld CompleX?

I think there will be a fast food outlet and not sure if another pub going up on the site in Clay Cross.

Mad world we live in - pubs closing or being demolished - and then they build new ones??

Some years ago I was talking to a landlord who was renting off Marston's brewery he told me that the brewery was off loading a lot of old stock pubs that either were too small or too expensive to update for family dinning. Marston's main policy is to have ' family pubs' which were aimed at the food market and less on beer sales as they know ' wet' sales are decreasing. I think Marston's is saleing much of its estate to pay for its new build pubs like ' The Six Halts' that are basically restaurants I doubt they will be many traditional pubs left in the end. I think this policy is ture of Enterprise Inns, Spirit Group ( Yates Wine Lodge owner) and other pubcos. I think I know were  you are taking about with the proposed site that used to be ' Brian Donkins' factory seems an odd place for a pub but then again Marston's seems to like to build in off beat locations.

Here is where I sound a grumpy old git - but I'm still going to say it.

I think family eating places are a good idea and have used them many times - but ---
There's always a 'but'  ;)

It's time some kind of a family time line was drawn.

We recently went out with friends to celebrate a birthday - 8.00pm for the meal.
The whole way through our meal we had to contend with a high pitched squealing child which made it difficult to have an conversation.
Young children often get tired and irritable when tired - so why drag them out for a bloody meal!

More recently we were out again for a meal admit it was earlier - 6.00pm but - a young child was allowed to run around the place - dangerous wouldn't you say?

It's time these places got tough with couldn't care less parents and gave a bit more consideration for those who just want to go and have a quite meal !

Rant Over.

Shame I was hoping you were going try all these new pubs out . When very rarely we do take my daughter out for a meal she behaviors herself until that is can't have the most expensive dessert on the menu than it all kicks off.

I've taken many children out WCT, but they have had to behave with bottoms on the seat.

For the ones who struggled I took them out earlier very often at a place which had a childs play area or for the Young ones have had colouring books and older ones small Game Boy type thingies if they struggled.

Parents need to be more considerate - they know their children best and what they can tolerate.

An update on the Six Halts Pub's name.

It was named after the Clay Cross railway which went to Ashover - the train had Six Halts ( Flag Stops ) on this run.

It opens On August 30th 2016, will have a pizza kitchen and ice cream parlour as well as the main menu.
