Facebook lets beheading clips return to social network

Facebook is allowing videos showing people being decapitated to be posted and shared on its site once again.

The social network had placed a temporary ban on the material in May following complaints that the clips could cause long-term psychological damage.

The US firm now believes its users should be free to watch and condemn, but not celebrate, such videos.

Whilst I am normally against censorship, I think this is going too far.

Beheading isn't legal in the UK or America, probably not in most normal countries.
It's the sort of behaviour one would expect from a fanatical hostile sub division of a group.
Human instinct may want to see such video's, be honest, have you never trawled Google looking for something, iffy.
Personally, I think this kind of video should be barred from facebook.
There's plenty more places to go and watch such stuff.

Is Facebook too big. Can't they control the content anymore. But want the profits

I hate it when people post photo's of animals being abused.
Why do people want to share things llike that, it really upsets me

Someone tweeted this morning that "In Facebook's world, a beheading is OK but an exposed nipple is not". It seems a photograph on a page about breastfeeding was banned from Facebook. But footage of someone having their head cut off is acceptable...

Someone needs to look at their priorities there.

Facebook have reinstated the ban - common sense prevails.

Facebook now says videos depicting extreme violence, including beheadings, must carry a warning and cannot be shared with an underage audience

Facebook and YouTube are both quite zealous when it comes to blocking copyright programmes though
