Bring Our Troops Home Now!
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:07:00 PM »
In the light of six UK servicemen killed last week, mostly under 20 years of age, and the murderous atrocities committed by a US serviceman this weekend, is it not time we said enough is enough and pulled our armies out of Afghanistan and Iraq?

If we had done any good, if we had brought peace to a war-torn country, if we had saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people then maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

Bring Our Troops Home Now!

Saddam killed thousands of his own people, but the forces of the US Alliance have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths in a futile attempt to do good.

The only winners in this situation seem to be the arms dealers.

Can anyone explain to me why we should still be in there?

Karzai doesn't want us, his corrupt government will still be there when we finally go, they will all return to their evil ways and we will have achieved nothing.

We will have wasted £billions at a time when we can least afford it and we will have lost hundreds of our young men and women and have hundreds of badly injured soldiers with their lives in ruins.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Syria's been a terrible state of affaires, so many innocents killed, but how can we as a country keep stepping in and do we have the Right? Very sad situation though and Turkey is getting peed of with it now as they are shooting very close to their borders

I'm not advocating that we should interfere in Syria but I don't see what the difference is between there and Libya.

Then we should get out of Libya.

And then we shouldn't go to war anywhere else.

We should sort our own problems first.

The only war we should ever contepmlate is from an aggressor against us, or, should the Argies spit the dummy out in the South Atlantic again.
After all, the campaigns in which we have "helped", we have ended humiliated in so many ways.
Our troops killed in vain. Innocent civilians killed. Friendly fire incidents where we manage to kill people on the same side as us. The list goes on.
I don't see much in the news about Libyan people being grateful for our sacrifices in helping them, for example.
We have got to realise that after many years of defence cuts (which I'm sure will continue) that we do not have the capability anymore to wade in to conflicts just for the sake of keeping chummy with the Yanks.
Surely, some of the savings in the defence cuts, could be diverted into developing Hydrogen as a fuel to run Cars, Lorries, etc, and therefore eradicate the need to get involved in any country that has got Oil as its major resource.
The only thing that a car emits run on hydrogen is water. Hey presto more hydrogen!
Surely we have the boffins to do this. The technology is there. Mass produce it to bring down the costs etc.
sorry gone off topic a bit, but you get my point. No further squabbles or pretentious wars simply because a country in turmoil has Oil!
We've all got Hydrogen FFS!!

We have given back other territories we colonised over the years, what make Falklands worth risking lives over?

The civilians who prefer to remain "British".
Thatcher pulled it off 30 yrs ago.
It would be a bit silly, to just wave bye bye to it now.
Or we could just give in to Argentina, and wait until they colonise Ireland.
