Vicar Lane shopping centre bought out of receivership
« on: February 11, 2019, 01:23:51 PM »
Apparently  the new owners have big plans for Vicar Lane.
I look forward to seeing these changes.
Do we think it will bring more footfall into the centre?

i think that nothing will bring it back to the way it used to be, in days gone by if i wanted to buy someting i would pop into town and look round the shops that may stock the items required, if the same situation arises now my first port of call is online, a lot of the stuff i have bought over the years are technology items and for this ebay has been a godsend as some of the items are quite specialist, i used to have to go over to bardwells at sheffield or R F Potts at derby now i can buy these items direct from china without sacrificing quality and at a fraction of the price, also if it was not for the flea market there would be no market worth talking about other than the fruit and veg stalls. i think we just have to accept that the high street as we once knew it has had its day, and yes i do miss Woolies, Littlewoods, Hudsons and the CO-OP to name just a few.
