Trail Camera
« on: May 11, 2019, 08:07:43 PM »
I have treated myself to one so I can view my 'babies' or Hedgehogs who frequent my garden.
Have to admit I am struggling with the settings a bit as don't really know anything about PIR's etc.
I prefer the video setting to photo setting.

Still I have seen my babies - at least two which are fat ones. One I have called 'Ferk' no prizes for guessing why  How they get into their feeding house together I'm not sure!!

Also the two cats are seen ( not ours and they visit during the day ) and one seems to have spotted the infra red light coming on on the camera  ;D

The one thing I didn't expect was the Fox well maybe more than one as I have captured it on different nights and one seems larger than the other  :-?

I will continue with experimenting with the settings and maybe one day will get a short clip on here!!

we have one....mainly to spot hedgehogs, but have had foxes and even badgers in our garden. Trouble is, one hedgehog looks like another, so we dont know if we have loads, or just one very greedy one!

Hi smithy welcome to the forum.

We have five and last night a baby one appeared which makes six. It's so cute I can't stop looking at the footage

One I call ferk - for obvious reasons ;D
There is a light coloured one and  two with markings on.

Some of them have longer snouts - the baby although it's size alone is the give away has a black snout.
I had one a couple of days ago which looked heavily pregnant.

I actually find the hogs quite funny and they never curl up into a ball when they see me.

I have posted a picture I took I think Sunday evening when I went to put the hog food in their feeding house to find a small hog already in there waiting -----

The other picture was a hog again waiting under the Holly bush for supper. It was looking at me for quite awhile then turned it's back on me - supposedly thinking if it couldn't see me I couldn't see it. :))

I'll try and put them on another post as they are in my phone!

The Fox visits some nights as well, no Badgers

I want to be first in the supper queue. This is one of the smaller ones but not the baby.

I put the trail camera onto photo instead of video.
This shows the two different coloured hogs which visit my garden.

Sadly, we have not had a hedgehog for a couple of weeks, but the badger is a regular visitor, along with next doors cats...

Hi Smithy - please don't give up as they move around so may return.
We have had at least four babies this year.
The other night I stood in the shade and waited - the tiniest cutest Hog came past me, totally oblivious to my being there ( poor eye sight)
I have learned such a lot about hogs and there habits by watching the train cam.
The light coloured one is a regular visitor, I'm guessing we have about nine different ones coming now, not all on the same night though and we have one who is a right nasty pasty! It even set me the other night! Very unusual for hogs but I have watched this one bully other hogs.
Don't give up!!!

Good idea to try food dish elsewhere.
Hogs have poor eye sight but a good strong smell instinct.

Mine is in a special hog house but the smaller cats can still get in - as I found out when I put soem fresh Chicken in a few weeks ago!
