Hi OC
I have access to old newspapers on Find my Past. Willing to give it a go if you want. Just send me some details. :)

Chesterfield Discussion / Missing ginger cat Newbold
« on: July 03, 2015, 08:36:43 PM »
Hope Fly and Pete don't mind me posting this and I have no problem with it being deleted if inappropriate. A good friend of mine has lost a male ginger cat. Lives at Upper Newbold but cat has been known to travel. Please keep a look out for him. Any news good or bad appreciated. Thanks Guys

This advert from 1904 would seem to suggest that it did exist

I thought it might be Brimington Pam but on closer inspection it seems quite a bit smaller that Brimington. I will look through my old postcards and see if that gives any clues. Lovely image though.

It was further down Sheffield Road in Stonegravels. Close to where the entrance to the refuse/recycling are is today. There are a couple of pictures taken from further back on PTP. I know the chap who submitted a similar view to this to PTP and he told me that is was taken circa 1905. The gentleman in the doorway is John Thickett and his son Bernard. They were relations of his. Nice pic.

It used to be at 101 Sheffield Road. It was demolished when the road was widened about 1917 ish i think.

Brilliant pics Pete. I especially like the second one. I have a bit of a thing for old enamel signs and they are beauties.
