Theresa May will be the next Prime Minster
« on: July 11, 2016, 03:29:50 PM »
Looks we will be getting a female Prime Minster soon in the shape of Theresa May as the other lady as step down . Do you think she will be better than Cameron  and get us though the Britexit process?

If so shes's a bit fickle with her beliefs don't you think?

Let's hope as promised that she and the party stick to the process of exiting the EU as promised.
She made a bold statement  to that effect & promised a whole lot more, so remember this day ,& days to come because  if they prove to be liars - at least you can unelect them when a new political party becomes credible.
Dont hold your breath for now though...... MD

I think we have to have someone in Cameron's place before we can have a general election as at the moment the Tory have no leader.

Hasn't someone said there won't be a general election though?

It's all very strange. Theresa May replaces Cameron because he resigned. She therefore becomes an unelected leader of the Conservative Party.
However the traditional opposition to the tories has been Labour for the most part. They themselves are in disarray over Jeremy Corbyn's party leadership and appear to have no direction.
The rest of the bunch - Liberals,Greens,Ukip etc, seem feeble and unprepared for a General Election, let alone win it outright.
I conclude that we let the new unelected Prime Minister of Great Britain get on with it whilst we watch her like a hawk and the other parties re-group to bolster a credible opposition should she and her party fail to deliver over the next few months.
I've never been a strong supporter of politicians generally when it comes to elections, but let's see what they do regarding Brexit & the promises Mrs May has voiced prior to & post her appointment. :-\

and who had voted in the 'minions' for for Theresa May  in the elections - just the MP's?
The countries minions haven't.
I think we do need at some point to have a general election - only problem is Jeremy Corbyn  needs to get a vote of confidence  from his party  first?

I think Corbyn would do well in a general election. He is polling figures the top Labour bods can only dream of. He genuinely is a man of the people.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I also think a general election is required. We are in new time and a new start should be sought by all.
We are in this together aren't we  ::)  Heard that before somewhere.
Yes I think Corbyn is up to the job. May, prpbably so.
As for the minions voting the PM in, they didn't have to. Nobody else wanted the job. Can't blame them personally .  . .  . .  . .  .

Corbyn needs to get his act together make it clear on what his policies are not say one thing than backtrack or change his position. Doing that makes him an easy target for the opposition parties and in the eyes of the electorate a rambling fool. Until he does that I would say no to him been a Prime Minster remember he would be involved in International politics as well as the domestic politics he would have to be able to do trade deals with the EU as well dealing with the Britex issues. The EU referendum has shown how divided the nation is and how deep people feel towards the EU and Westminster their is a need for strong leadership. With regards to May I doubt she realizes the job in front of her Cameron did he so jumped ship he knew getting it wrong would be a disaster , the country needs to look forward not dwelling on the EU referendum result and demanding a second referendum which if somehow it took place would divide the country more. We need time to take stock and need stability can May deliver this who knows .

If her introductory speech from number 10 is to be believed and carried through, then I wish her well.
She outlined that "The Government I lead will be driven not by the interests of the privileged few, but by yours"
Meaning the working class.
She also said "If you are from an ordinary working class family, life is much harder than many people in Westminster realise."
"And we will make Britain not for a privileged few, but for every one of us"
Bold statements she has to live up to! Many more missed out.
Why does this sound more like a Labour Party broadcast... possibly pre-empting a possible future General election methinks

An General  Election would give the parties time to decided on policy on Britex life and give a breath of fresh air that Westminster needs.

BREAKING NEWS: George Osbourne resigns - Philip Hammond to take over as new Chancellor.
Not entirely unexpected. As coppers used to say "Did he fall, or was he pushed?"
