Spoof PayPal email?
« on: February 12, 2014, 12:27:20 PM »
Just received the following email from 'Pay Pal (support0153@ outlook.com)':

You sent a payment of 42.98 GBP to Skype (support@ skype.com)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Merchant
Skype
support@ skype.com
 Instructions to merchant
You haven't entered any instructions.
Shipping address - Unconfirmed
United Kingdom
 Postage details
The seller hasn’t provided any postage details yet.
Description Unit price Qty Amount
Online Number, 3 month subscription
 42.98 GBP 1 42.98 GBP

Subtotal 42.98 GBP
Total 42.98 GBP

If you haven't authorized this charge, open a dispute at:
https //www.paypal.com/Dispute_Centre/webscr?cmd=xpt]https://www.paypal.com/Dispute_Centre/webscr?cmd=xpt

Checked my PayPal account and this transaction doesn't appear anywhere! Presume it's a spoof email and reported it to PayPal, be aware!

Please note that I've added a 'space' between the '@ and outlook/skype' to prevent it being 'clickable'.

If it's a scam I should remove that link to Paypal's Dispute Centre, you never know where it will take you.

I reported it to Paypal who confirmed it was fraudulent. I've forwarded it to them and deleted the message.

I meant the link in your forum post. If the message above it is a scam it may take you to a bogus Paypal disputes page.
