Just a list of your top 10 albums is all :)

Purists tend to say no compilations and no live albums (unless all songs are new)

Been to "The other place" to jog my memory.

Interestingly Pete's list is vastly different from before but Jon's (almost exclusively 80s) list has not changed.

Not coming up with a definitive list yet but here are some on my shortlist:

There is a recent trend for groups to play live versions of their most iconic albums in full and these 3 have impressed me:

Wishbone Ash  - Argus

Strawbs - Hero & Heroine

Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Schoals

Some long time favourites:

Springsteen - Born To Run

Pulp - Different Class

REM - Automatic For The people

Al Stewart - past, Prenent & Future

Some more recent:

Tiny Dancers - Free School Milk

Richard Hawley - Lady's bridge

Midlake - The Courage of Others

John Grant - Queen of Denmark

Griffin House - The Learner

There really should be something by The Who or the Rolling Stones but which?

Difficult, requires more thought.

If we are including greatest his albums my list would be completely different but if those are the rules may just as well put ipod playlists in. Let's have some guidelines.

This is my list from the other place....

Fast Car, Tracy Chapman
Bat Out of Hell, Meatloaf
The Wall, Pink Flloyd (Many prefer DSOTM but not me)
Thriller, Michael Jackson (Could easily have been Off The Wall)
Pablo Honey, Radiohead (Could have been any of theirs.)
Secret World, Live Peter Gabriel
The Best of Sade for those special moments LOL
The Very Best of Gene Pitney
Whats The Story. Morning Glory or anything by Oasis.
Parallel Lines, Blondie (or any others of theirs)
Stoosh, Skunk Anansie
Automatic For the People, REM
Gold ABBA, well why not.
Grease, The Soundtrack....don't laugh, we all bloody well sing along to it....don't we.
Raintown, Deacon Blue

And thats not including anything by Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Stereophonics, Elvis P, Elvis C,........

Recent additions would include 21 by Adele and The Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow.

Fellow music snobs, sorry highways officers, are horrified at the suggestion of including Greatest Hits in a best album debate.

It's just a lazy choice and bares no connection with  particular act at a particular time period, some are even compiled by record labels without the consent of the acts involved.

For instance the Beatles Blue & Red albums contain many more familiar songs than the likes of classic albums such as Revolver and Sgt Pepper.

Obviously this Forum is about freedom of speech but without sensible guidelines I'm going to spit the dummy and take my ball home on this topic.

All I did was ask what your fave top ten albums were, 'kin' 'ell Slacker.

We don't need no stinkin' guidelines!

My top ten albums are all compilation albums.

Most albums are half filled with crap any way.

Ok, some Queen albums.
Alanis Morrisette, Jagged Little Pill
That's 10 for now  :D
