Seemingly there are 25 petitions on Facebook to try & stop this.
There must be a more worthy recipient I would have thought (not Mr Farage).
Controversial one certainly.

Never something I have been interested in TBH and I have no idea why he has been awarded this - ( mind you at the risk of repeating myself anyone who put up with that shower back then wants a medal as big as a bucket - even if only the top of a baked beans tin! )
From my last statement you will be correct in thinking I do not agree with this this pomp - never have!

Who actually 'pays' for this ?

Rather than pay out for this lavish pomp and ceremony why not just pay out donations to relevant organisations or whatever who have been helped by the person.

People with 'titles' do not command anymore respect from me than any other person on this planet - everyone gets my respect and I expect it in return - it is what life is about to me.

To deviate slightly for me the same goes for religion - no one has to go to Church to be a Christian - it should be in the very core of the way we conduct our lives - the same goes for other religions. So a person may say they do not believe in God - but can still lead a good decent life which is actually a Christian way of life - ( does that make sense? )

I'm not into 'titles' we all came into this world naked and when we leave it are just another human being - the medals and titles just fade into the past with us.

Waste of money!

No do not send it back.
Auction it off and give the money to a deserving charity  ;)

forgive me for being stupid but i thought knighthoods were awarded to people who serve thier country, the only thing i saw during Cleggs tenure as Deputy Prime Minister was him servind his and his own partys self interest .

I have absolutely no issues with our forces getting their medals/ honors etc. They serve our country very well and deserve recognition for this.
I also think they should be looked after better once out of the forces.

I certainly think that service personel once leaving the Armed Forces should have the support they need to re-integrate into civilian life. Very often they suffer from personal & life changing problems which need addressing rather than them going in to meltdown.
They put their lives on the line for us after all.

Apart from having the title, the only other significant benefit could be an invitation to sit on various official committees or boards of directors. You'd be considered as an expert in your field or sport or discipline. There could be a remuneration for that appointment.
Otherwise, it's just a “gong” as we English say. A nice badge and colourful ribbon round your neck.

A few years ago now one of my old bosses was a retired Captain out of the army, and even though he was "now" in civvy street he still used that title in his letterheads.
I told my elder brother {a retired army warrant officer} about it and he said "Why shouldn't he, he's obviously earned it, and you'd be surprised at the doors a title can open for you".
So I'm not surprised people accept titles Clegg is just one of many who thought if you cant beat 'em join 'em.

Actually in that instance they may well put some very good community use of their experience in their previous profession.
Unlike some who do just bask in their title - ---
