Double Standards in the Labour Party.
« on: January 05, 2012, 01:54:13 PM »
Though I'm all in favour of free speech, I am not in favour of double standards and hypocrisy.

Diane Abbot, MP, has tweeted that "white people like to divide and rule." I wonder what would happen if a white person had made similar racist generalisations about black people. This is the politically correct, loony left, raising its ugly head again, and lets face it, they don't get uglier than Diane's.
No wonder Labour gets so little support in middle England.

It's actually a comment by one person (which she says was taken out of context) not a Labour Party statement

Luis Suarez says his comment was taken out of context. Cost him £40k and an 8 match ban.

Didn't he admit to saying it once. In Spanish.
That's what I heard on the radio.

But nobody's accusing the whole Liverpool team of being racist

To say it was taken out of context is a cop out, but what she said is not the point. The fact is that it is clear double standards. If Boris Johnson had said something similar about black people would she accept it if he said it was taken out of context.

And though the comment itself is not an official Labour party comment, hypocrisy seems to to be. How many of them have criticised private education, but send their kids to fee paying schools. Then there's Prescott who spent his whole political career saying the Lords should be scrapped, until he gets offered a place!

Taken out of context, my arse! What a cowardly response. If I say something carelessly provocative based on another person's race, I can expect the law to take an interest. If I say it at work, as I'm sure it could be argued that she did, then I can expect to lose my job. If she lacks a command of the English language sufficient to use Twitter, then she should not use it. "The Suarez Defence" is no defence. Does the Labour Party have a view on this?

Hi Stuart, welcome to Chesterfield Online  ;)

I personally find the, 'Taken out of context', label, used to much as an excuse for a gaffe.
It's about time people in the media, politicians etc, 'fess up, when they f**k up'.

We're all human, gob in gear, brain in neutral  ;D

Just admit you f****d up  :D  (Not you personally)  ;)

The truth is Dianne Abbot has always shown a tendency towards racial stereotyping.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

True but they are being vilified for their 100% support of him. Has the talking Horse condemed what she said?

Racial stereotyping is not as bad as race hate remarks. It is reported that she has had a bollocking from Mili. Hope she takes notes of my advice to use Twitlonger if she  reckons her remarks were taken out of context.
