Sent off a letter to D.T. for the letters page about a month ago, I'd given up on it till I saw it had been printed in this last issue.

Won't make an 'aporth of difference but I got it off my chest.

Another letter printed in this weeks D.T. about the roads, two for two I'm doing well....besides it keeps me out of mischief!

There's an extended programme on tonight giving the results as they come in, might just see how you know who has done.

If he's voted in as Mayor there's something drastically wrong, either his opponents are a tin of beans and Donald Trump or he's the only one in the race...........we shall see.

To digress a moment, my daughter called into the new Smythes toy store the other day, very nice store too and after she had paid for her purchases it turns out she couldn't find the exit!! she had to ask one of the staff who said something along the lines of " Your not the first...it's not very well signposted is it" and directed her to the exit.

So the upshot is...Don't try shoplifting in this store you'll never get out.

Also why do shoppers heading for the exit always give a fully laden shopping trolley to granny, the weakest of the bunch, to push to the car.

The trolley holds Granny up  :)) I speak from experience  :))

Continuing the shopping theme {I wouldn't go near a shop but the wife makes me}

It happened again this morning in Tesco I always walk a couple of feet in front of my wife with the trolley, I stop at a possible purchase where there is already a woman stood perusing the merchandise and I ask the wife something along the lines of  "Do we need any beans" and the woman looks at me as though I'm talking to her, oblivious to the fact my wife is stood either behind her or at the side of her.

Now why would I ask a complete stranger if WE need more beans, I've lost count of the times that's happened.
Also why do shoppers heading for the exit always give a fully laden shopping trolley to granny, the weakest of the bunch, to push to the car.

I still maintain shoppers should be given an intelligence test before they're allowed in.

So tomorrow's the big day, if what I've read about Mr. Bradley is anywhere near the truth I shouldn't think he'll earn enough votes to retain his deposit...still stranger things happen in politics, there is talk of trying to get Boris to come back and that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Alfreton Male Voice Choir

Choir Remembers World War II with Song.
A medley of war songs was brought out of the repertoire during last nights practise ahead of a performance at Tupton in north east Derbyshire on Saturday 8th June.
The Choir ‘Packed Up Its Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag’ and went ‘Over There’ to see the ‘Roses of Pickardy’ then went the ‘Long Way to Tipperary’ ensuring they ‘Kept the Home Fires Burning.’
The Choir will travel the few miles north to Tupton to help their community celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the start of Operation 'Overlord' when on 6 June 1944, Allied forces launched a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France.
And who knows what manoeuvres the  Sagalouts’ (the Choirs answer to the Home Guard) will get up but rest assured it wil be song and laughter.
Get up to but it’ll be more song and laughter.
So pop along in the afternoon to Tuptons’ Community Garden and join in the fun.
