Delays at Horns Bridge
« on: July 09, 2014, 08:43:09 PM »
Sounds like more chaos is on the way when the new £300.000 sculpture is brought and placed on the roundabout.
I can't see a date though - does anyone know when this will be ?

Should be finished by December  :-X

I just hope the lane closures are for the 1 day whilst all the crap is transported onto the roundabout.
£300,000 for a sculpture.

I won't hold my breath. I'm to young to die.   ::)

I'm looking forward to it - we need a bit of culture in this (chav) town.

We're knocking down beautiful buildings and throwing up "boxes" - what will we look like in 20 years time? Concrete jungle?

It took our council over 100 years to get a museum - and a little one at that.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Some sort of tree thing, to promote growth I think.

Personally I think it was the wrong choice - but they left it up to the public to decide...

Thanks for the link Fly, can't say I'm too impressed.
Suppose they will stick fairy lights on at Christmas - if there's any money left in the pot.

The replies on that are typical of the neanderthal thinking of this town.

Why do people go to Paris, Rome, Venice, etc etc? Because they are beautiful cities filled with art.

What do we get in Chesterfield? Another bingo hall?...

It not that interesting to look at IMO.  Ive never understood why things like this cost so much bloody money.

What just not turf it and put flowers on.  Huge cost saving as they could buy it all from B&Q as its only a stones throw away!

Maybe they wanted something which wasn't too striking for safety reasons.
Drivers looking at sculpture whist going round the island isn't that safe and I for one wouldn't be happy for a bump in the back end/side of my car.

There were 3 or 4 options - they chose one I didn't like. But its a step in the right direction.

This the one I liked.

Have to admit I would have chosen that one Pete.
Does anyone know when the work is to start?
Just so I can avoid it!!
