.....and they tell us to save water!
« on: March 20, 2012, 06:29:42 PM »
There's been a water leak on Ashgate Road/Fairfield Road for over a week now - it's not a huge leak, but a lot more than a householder leaving a tap on.

With all the Water Authorities continually telling us to save water and threats of hosepipe bans in certain areas, you'd think that they would repair it pretty quick - especially as they (Water Authority Contractors) are ripping up the roads around that immediate area.

No! Walked past today and it's STILL leaking!  >:( They must be aware of it as they are digging the road on the adjacent side!

The grate that the leak is coming from is part of the new mains they installed about a month ago.
Remember the annoying traffic light's there.
I presume they can't do owt about the leak till the rest of the mains have been replaced  8)

There was one outside Calow Post Office a few weeks ago.
It took them a week to start repairs.
Dread to think how many gallons just drained away in that time.
It was quite a sustantial leak too. :o

Saving water only applies to housholders - not the waterboard - didn't you know  ;)

.......................Traffic lights are back too. :-)

They've been there that long - are they still allowed to call 'em 'temporary'??!!  ;)

If you check your water bill you will find  you are being charged for your land drainage going into the Yorkshire Water system rather than letting it soak into the ground. Surely this is helping in times of drought?
