"People using the crematorium can however take advantage of a discount for funerals held before 10.30am, when demand is less which will benefit people on lower incomes."

I reckon my lot will torch me around 6 in the morning...  ;D
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Is/Was watching the same programme, I think.
Councils upping fees for school meals, sport activities, etc.

Doesn't it make you think there's 'something', wrong somewhere.
No personal comment required from you Andy ;)

This isn't a dig at you,  :P

Most services have to strike a balance between what to charge the user and what to subsidise from the council tax. Burials receive a slight subsidy, cremations (not CBC but jointly run with other councils make a minor profit.
Several things have price variations (eg parking) to reduce demand for town centre ones and get people to use the ones on the outskirts)
Wasn't aware of a cremation price variation but it makes sense as they it needs about 9 a day to avoid an overall price rise.
