Good luck to both of you. :)

Apart from the health issues, you can save a lot of money if you are a heavy smoker.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

This is a serious attempt, I've never tried before.

Tip for you mate, when you get started - weigh yourself once a week. A few folks that I know that used to smoke put on the pounds "comfort eating".

I'm currently 10st 12oz.
Eating sounds like a good idea, there's plenty of sugar free options I can consider.
Or even fruit  :o

Speaking as someone who is glad he never started smoking (because I know I would never have the will power to quit) best of luck to the 2 of you.

Good luck to you both, it will be the best thing you ever do.

As a ex smoker myself it was the best thing I ever did for myself that's for sure, I gave up the weed 36 years ago, when they only cost 50p for a pack of 20  ;D

Fly, Pete is right, you have to be careful not to replace one "addiction" with another. My wife "gave up" a couple of years back, but repaced the fags with those electronic type fags. So she does have some of the benefits, they aren't as bad for your health, not smelly / dirty, etc, but she is not much better off financially and the nicotine still has a grip on her.
Still, its a first step which is positive. Slowly slowly, catchy monkey, as they say. Good luck.

My daughter packed in smoking a few years ago by using the gum, she still has to have the gum if she feels stressed though!
