Business leaders attack Osborne
« on: July 22, 2012, 04:58:42 PM »
Head of British Chambers of Commerce launches outspoken tirade against chancellor, accusing him of stifling growth.

"Chancellor George Osborne appears to be fast losing the support and confidence of British business as the body representing 100,000 UK firms accuses ministers of a mixture of indecision, equivocation and political short-termism that is choking off economic recovery.

The outspoken attack from the director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, John Longworth, is a severe blow to the chancellor, who faces fresh pressure on Wednesday when official figures are expected to show that the UK's GDP contracted for a third successive quarter between April and June."

So it's not just me then…

Come on Cameron sack him! And get someoneone in who knows his arse from his elbow - and go for growth.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Errr...  the thousands of small businesses that cannot get loans from their banks. You know, the businesses that employ the majority of people in this country.

Pete: When will you wake up and realise it's not Osbourne, it's those nasty Lib Dems in the coalition who are preventing him from applying the real swinging cuts and de-regulation that he wants.

Bloody 'ell JR, I do like to follow political posts and many contributors are clear where they stand, but I always find yours difficult....I sort of assumed you were a Liberal, but the above is clear cut, I and agree with you.

I can take you to several councillors from the labour party who will tell you I am a fully paid up card carrying member of the party.
Ditto the Lib dems
Never really had to deal with any tory councillors but I'm not sure I could have convinced them.
My politics are my own!

Chris they already put forward their alternatives. Spend on capital projects to stimulate the economy and make the cuts slower and less swinging.
The Osborne (better Pete?) austerity plan clearly isn't working given that his whole plan was based on reducing our borrowing yet we've had £375bn of QE & £500bn+ of public borrowing. I know you will argue we haven't actually seen any of the cuts, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I know you will say that the Labour plan wouldn't work. Ditto.
But clearly if Plan A isn't working there needs to be a Plan B
