What's happened to the gas works?
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:37:30 PM »
Remember a couple of years ago, when you couldn't drive around Chesterfield without coming across the gas workers laying replacement pipes?

I was told that they would be here for quite a while, as they were replacing the gas pipes to more or less every street in and around Chesterfield.

I haven't seen them for ages - are they finished? (or are they now concentrating on Foljambe Road, disguising themselves as various utility companies?)

I hope they've gone, I pray they've gone - drove me nuts for a year or so.  >:(
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Drove you nuts, how do you think we've been coping. (Taxi fraternity)

There are still holes all over Chsterfield. Half gas, half Severn Trent.
Elder Way is next. Can't wait !!

Williamthorpe Rd as well between old post office and North Wingfield Co-op. Sewer replacement. At the moment two way traffic lights, but at some point they are digging up the middle of the road so no traffic can pass either way. Access only in other words.Bus diversions will be in place on the 96 service via Birkin Lane apparently.
Never seen so many holes in the roads.

Drove us mad as well in our village, when they got to our street there were huge holes over drives with metal plates over them and high metal fences at the sides I could only reverse into the drive because of the angle it was scarey!
