Skeggy or blackpool was our holiday places when kids. Spent many a few hours in one of the large sea front shelters with a bag of nuts and a ball in rainy weather when we couldn't go back to boarding house and parents not enough cash to keep paying for indoor activities (3 kids and only dad working)I loved the bagged shrimps which were sold on the sea front

I took my brother to see Gary Glitter in sheffield the girl next to me fainted  :o so I attended to her until first aid arrived. She was on the same 'milk train' as us going home and gave me a box of chocies (bless)

I was into the Beatles, animals, Kinks, yardbirds ohhh could go on and on the 60's was a brill time to be a teenager. I did get to see some of them in chessy/sheffield as well. :)

Do you mean the Vic in town where dances used to be held (sorry you've lost me on it) if so my friend and i used to go there. We were not allowed to go to Jimmies though !!

Hope you don't mind me splitting your thread OC  :)
I liked the Old Memories one. Never been to a music thingy myself  :)

Not at all Fly - it's all memory lane stuff anyway, good idea in splitting it though as lots of memories there for most of us.

I was bought up in a mining family with only dad working, our toys and clothes were bought through Provident cheques.
We had to fill up on bread abd potatoes, but did have some fruit. I remember sitting watching tele with a pomegranate and darning needle OMG
These days fruit and veg (fresh) are a big part of my diet.

We go to York for weekends sometimes used the Best western Monk Bar (annex room).
Last July we stayed at the Royal York Hotel adjacent to the railway station. (we always use the train).
Love going to the museums or wandering around the shops, sitting at the side of the river with a glass of wine.
Plenty of things to do, try one of the ghost walks -- they are fun!
