Interesting
Defenders, midfielders....a striker or two would be nice.
All these players on loan - what about the promised funds to invest in players.
I firmly beleived that once they had got the new stadium that things would be better. They will struggle to stay up unless Sheridan gets proper backing. Attendance this season (considering they are bottom of league), and last season must have generated much more money than when they were at Saltergate.
I hope Sheridan pulls it off and keeps us up :-\

Remember it well, there were 2 really old buses on the fleet back in t'sixties the similar one was used for driver training. Used to be quite interested in buses in my junior school days and had a book that listed the registration and fleet numbers of all the Corporation buses.
My Dad drove for CCT at that time and said he was trained in Leyland PD1 registration JRA 635. Petes photo shows JRA 634 on the right.
JRA 635 is preserved and owned, I beleive by Tim Watts (founder of TM Travel), and regularly attends Bus rallies. The last time I saw it you would think it was brand new. In fact I followed it up the hill going up in to Alfreton in a "modern" Stagecoach bus months ago. It carried on at a steady 40 mph, whilst mine went 35, 30, 25,...! ;D ;D

Politics / Re: Scotland - Should they stay or should they go?
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:24:34 PM »
This is the thanks that every tax payer in the whole of the UK gets for bailing out Royal Bank of Scotland, and Halifax Bank of Scotland when they were both in the shit. Talk about take the money and run thank you very much. I would suggest that they let Scotland go it alone, provided we get tax refunds however small for bailing the above Banks out of the mire, as Scotland is so sure that it can go on its own.
Furthermore, a succesion of Scottish politicians,in England, must hold some responsability for the current economic downturn.
Lets make sure that in future they never set foot in Westminster any more. Surely we can produce politicians from within.
Whilst we are at it, lets dump Jamaica, and any financial assistance we give to them. They dont want our Queen as sovereign anymore, so be it, Goodbye.
They will come crawling back when they are in trouble. Is scotland going to finance its own Army,Navy, air Force?
No, they will rely on us.
Give it to them straight I say, let them go, but forget help from the English taxpayer, because they say they are more profitable on their own.

Does it not help instead of having "http:", having "https"  the extra "s" meaning safe or secure, or indeed summat like that. I'm sure one of my mates on facebook told me if you alter the settings, its stops hackers.
Fly will know for sure I guess. ???

Thanks for that tony27806 - my thoughts too

Welcome to Chesterfield Online  :)
I've had a rant on the old forum too, don't know what went off on there, and don't care really, just stuff about life is too short FFS, and a definition from Wikipedia about free speech.
Quoted from Wikipedia as follows:
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc.

The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice". Article 19 goes on to say that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "[f]or respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "[f]or the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of public health or morals
Followed by, and I quote:Currently a member of both forums, twice the browsing, nice!
Shame school playground stuff spoiled it, but then again I'm a grown up so can rise above it.

I'm not getting involved further - seems there has been censorship on both sides which you will all have to live with.
Life is to short FFS
Personalities clash - thats life I guess.
I think the rule of "be nice" extends to life in general. I see far too many loudmouths face to face in my job as a bus driver, but I used to get aggravated by it. Now I just treat it as my days entertainment, cos they can't physically get to me, and I don't rise to their arguments.
Put you lot in a room with a free bar and after an hour you would probably be mates again; however I admit I don't know (and don't want to know) how personal the insults etc. were.

No replies required, you have all been told off by a bus driver/former banker/former butcher.

Best Wishes everyone  :) :) :)

Happy new year :) :)

Yes, a member of this forum has been banned.

They were sarcastic, abusive, threatening and generally obnoxious in their first posts.

So they were banned.

Rather than go into detail I'd prefer to leave it there.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dont need it on here - that for the other forum.
Open and fair debate by all means.
Mudslinging  -  No.
Not at this early stage, theres time for that later if and when.
Looking good so far ;D ;D

From what I gather, they are building an undergound sump which can store flood water until such time as it is safe to release it and pump it further down the river.I saw some very large bore tubes going in.
Apparently this has been done at other flood sites (storforth lane rail bridge for example), and I beleive on the former Trebor factory site.
I could be wrong of course, my wife says I usually am, so please completeley diregard what I have just posted.

Kind regards,
henpecked

Chesterfield Discussion / Re: Proposed development of Donut

There will be some disruption

Ha ha. It'll be bleeding grid locked and chaotic.
Exactly, I agree. And where do all the (Stagecoach) buses have to come from in the first place?
Yes you've guessed it, up Sheffield rd, past the new development.
By the way there is only one bus stop on the donut - good really cos that keeps traffic moving(its recessed). Are there plans to add any more based on the possible shift of the great shopping masses that will inevitably occur?
Or even a drive in/out bus station like Alfreton, Matlock(2), Derby,Clay Cross....It seems that if Tesco is not in the plan (cos they will pay for road improvements/ infrastructure) then its not going to happen.
I know I've said this before(on another forum) but why cant Chesterfield, if its gearing up to be something approaching "City" status, have a centralised Bus station of some sort.
Logistically, I appreciate its probably not possible - the two multi storey car parks on beetwell st create nightmares at busy times- no one observes the yellow grid matrix on Markham Rd, etc, etc.
I just think this is going to further clog up the town centre traffic wise.
And in this double dip economic downturn, dont forget people only have so much money they can spend, therefore more shops versus equal number of shoppers = less money spent per shop.
Bad times, I need a paracetamol ??? ???

Chesterfield Discussion / Proposed development of Donut
« on: December 28, 2011, 01:46:18 AM »
What does anyone think about the proposed development of the Donut roundabout, and will it benefit Chesterfield, be a bonus to the likes of the Co-operative store, and say for example, Eyres.
Furthermore, what implications does this development mean for further congestion on to the road in and out of Chesterfield, via stonegravels, where all the buses eminate from the depot in Stonegravels?

I had to go in to Britts when I was office junior for Halifax Building Society circa 1976, for such things as spotlamps for window displays and the like.
Definitely the inspiration for the two Ronnies "four candles" sketch.
 :) :)

Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Regardless of what we think about the royals, he's still someone's dad, granddad  :(

And he's got a sense of humour and isn't afraid to speak his mind, sometimes controversial, but nevertheless from the heart (no pun intended) :-[ :)
