Pay to park on your own street !
« on: June 26, 2014, 08:22:55 PM »
Chesterfield already do this. Which I don't agree with.
Matlock look to follow suit. Isn't this just another cash cow ?

Seriously need to mod our garden for off street parking.

Our garden's the bottom left one. The one with the trimmed privet hedge  ::)

Err hmm back on topic I think this was because of county offices staff/visitors parking on the streets in that area wasn't it.
Have read something in the Matlock Mercury about it

I have to pay to park on my street and tbh its a good thing. We always had folks parking on our street who didn't live here - making it residents parking keeps em away.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

To be honest it annoys me when people park on the road down our street and they have plenty of standing room on their front gardens.

Are you are missing something Simon, you don't pay to park outside your own house, on the road !
Some CDC residents have to.

@Pete, I'm saying resident parking should be free.
I appreciate you have somewhere to park outside your own house. But pay for it, against people visiting and trying to avoid parking costs. Cc for example !

>> @Pete, I'm saying resident parking should be free.

How can it be free? Who is going to organise and administer it? Who's going to pay to police it?

Everything has to be paid for.

The only discussion is about how much they charge.

Nobody owns the piece of road in front of their house. Your choice if you want to pay for preferential parking though if you get the kerb dropped it's illegal from someone to come and obstruct it (have it done properly, it's on my patch !)
