Chesterfield Discussion / Spar Supermarkets KLU klux Kake
« on: October 13, 2020, 03:46:27 PM »
When i have shown this to my friends and asked them what it reminds them of they all come back with the same answer and that is that it looks like the klu klux klan in cake form and to make it potentially more politicly incorrect the apparent klan hoods are on top of a brown cake with big white eyes, is this the worlds most offensive cake.

Chesterfield Discussion / Inconsiderate parking
« on: September 10, 2020, 12:57:23 PM »
Why is it that certain drivers beleive that it is ok to just dump their vehicles anywhere they please, or to ignore the markings in paking spaces, it is not only inconsiderate but highly annoying, i have lost count of the times i have gone to park in Asda and somebody has parked his or her 4x4 with the wheels on the white line thus denying a parking space to anything wider that a motorbike.
Just the other day i was driving on the road and came upon a silver taxi stood in the middle of the road and in front of the taxi was another taxi prposefully blocking the road waiting for a fare to come from their home, the taxi i was behind could not overtake the other taxi due to cars which were parked on the roadside thus we all had to wait for the clown in front to inconenience everbody behind him.
And now we come to today where upon entering the close where i live, i drove towards my usual parking spot which is in the bay with two marked parking spots and the pictures will tell you the rest.
I wish i was a bit more tech savvy as i would start up a site entitled parking-like-a-pillock.com where people could upload pictures of inconsiderate parking.

General Discussion / child proof containers
« on: September 08, 2020, 12:50:32 PM »
Over weekend i bought two bottles of bleach from asda and on trying to open one of the bottles i realised my grip was not what it was and the top was unmovable, so i handed the bottle to my son only for him to fail as well, in the end  to get into this bottle it required judicious use of a stanley knife and a pair of pliers to get it open.
I know why these lids are fitted however i do think that manufacturers should provide bottles or cartons which are able to be opened without the need for tools and the associated risks inherant in their deployment.
this was not an isolated incident and as i have got older i have had dificulties with these so called child proof locks on a regular basis.

Chesterfield Discussion / Children verbally abused in town centre
« on: September 01, 2020, 01:39:28 PM »
On Thursday afternoon I was walking through the Pavements Shopping Centre when the tannoy chirped up to admonish some children in a very aggressive tone about using scooters in the centre and finishing up the announcement by telling the children they were stupid which was totally uncalled for and i found the tone of this announcement to be alarming and after past experience with abusive Pavements security i feared for the children’s safety as to the best of my knowledge the security guard who attacked and pinned an elderly disabled lady to a wall in the library to prevent her calling for help is still in his post as head guard.
I looked around and saw three to four children standing outside Tesco’s with two scooters between them they were laughing amongst themselves but did not at that moment appear to be causing any problems, I walked slowly past them as I was waiting to see if the security were going to come down to them as if that had happened I would have intervened on their behalf to inform them of their rights and to ensure they had protection from anymore abusive language or behaviour, i must admit I was rather loathe to approach them without another adult present as they may have misconstrued my intentions.
In the past I have criticised certain members of this team of security guards as a result of their criminal and abusive behaviour and will continue to do so, however as a result of my criticism i have received threatening letters from Andy Bond the town Centre Manager stating his staff should not be subject to what he describes as abuse, perhaps he should be as concerned about town centre staff abusing the general public that previously included vicious attacks on special needs youngsters and elderly disabled women, and now verbally attacking children.

So we have mostly all followed government guidance regarding lockdown and what do we learn, the guidance the public was given was apperently wrong, if we have contracted covid 19 we do not have to follow goverment instructions and instead can follow our own instincts, the government gave us all clear instructions and forgot to tell us it did not apply to themselves, as and when it suited them we learn that we can travel up to260 miles to see our family while being highly infectious and we can also go for a 60 mile round trip in the car and go for a walk on a bank holiday weekend just so long as "we are checking our eysight?" WHAT!, a person beleives he may not be fit to drive because of compromised eyesight and the only way to check this is to make a sixty mile round trip in the car, are we supposed to swallow this BULLSH*T i for one do not accept any of cummings excuses, as i would not from anyone else, these people think that we the public are stupid.

On thursday afternoon i went out shopping for "essentials" as it was warm i wound my electric window down and halfway down the switch went faulty and stopped and i coud not wind it back up again, i went to the local car spares shops and it was impossible to get one as it was a main dealer part, as it was late i could not ring up the main dealers so i had to leave my car unsecured overnight with a bin bag over the opened window, the following morning i rang Perrys Ford dealership only to find it was closed due for the duration of the lockdown i wish somebody had told my car it was not allowed to need spares at this time, so a massive thank you to goes to Viaduct Car Spares & Auto Recovery Chesterfield, I rang them up and explained my prediciment they told me they were closed but they would get me the part i needed imediately, i went up acd collected the switch at a reasonable price and observed all the distancing guidance recommendations and was able to repair my alectric windows, so viaduct car spares & auto recovery chesterfield thank you for your service and common sense in realising car spares are essential unlike Perrys Ford. Jamie Oliver's Keep Calm and Cook coronavirus recipes, really?, are there no depths to which this fat tongued, smug, self promoting, mockney tw@ and failed restaurateur will not stoop to in his blatantly self serving attempt to increase his profile to hopefully enable him to sell more of his works of literary bilge masquerading as valuable information, in these trouble times we need helpfull impartial information not this sleezebag who is clearly atempting to exploit and profit from this countries present calamitous situation, i have two words for you Oliver and the secend one is OFF.

Chesterfield Discussion / Applause for shopworkers
« on: March 28, 2020, 05:28:52 PM »
In these difficult times we rely heavily on our NHS, however maybe we could spare a thought for shopworkers who not only continue to serve us at increased risk to themselves but also can become the butt of abuse from shoppers, i was talking to a checkout lady in tesco the other day and she told me about members of the public becoming irate at not being allowed to purchase more than three of any one item, i also witnessed one guy in iceland complaining loudly about the enforcement of the two meter distance rules, i myself have always been a bit anti establishment and anti strictures from politicians, however this is a matter of life and death and i fully understand the role these rules could have in keeping people safe and will continue to observe them even if others question their validity.

Entertainment / At last something worth watching on the BBC
« on: December 23, 2019, 12:50:55 AM »
I do not watch BBC TV much but tonight i decided to watch the first episode of a three part series shown over three nights "a christmas carol" on bbc1, i have over the years watched all the versions of the adaptations of dickens novel and up until tonight my favorite was the one with George C scott, however this 2019 version seems to have divided opinion, i think that it may be a little dark for some though i enjoyed this less sentimental portrayal of the story.
The story was ready for a darker portrayal as the original novel when published was considered to be shocking and when you consider that what was shockingin the 1800s is now de rigueur the story needed beefing up a bit, and boy have they beefed it up, if you have not already started watching it i can recommend it though i would suggest after the kids have gone to bed.

Politics / Andy McDonald blames the BBC for Corbyns Defeat
« on: December 16, 2019, 01:40:51 PM »
Andy McDonald blames BBC bias for Corbyns Defeat, it did not take long before Corbyns supporters got round to apportioning blame, i have done no electioneering on behalf of any party but just talking to people i know it became obvious to me that Labours biggest handicap was Corbyns leadership and his ambiguous stance on leaving the EU, its an easy get out to blame the BBC, having said that i am anti BBC but not for any imacined or trumped up accusation of bias, i think the BBC is an anacronism and has been given a blank cheque by successive governments to tax the general population for their increasingly irellevant output wether people want it or not, i myself do not want or need the BBC and i resent paying the licence fee for nothing i cannot get elsewhere usually of a much better quality.

Politics / boris wins the elction
« on: December 13, 2019, 06:24:03 PM »
Well there we have it the best way to become PM in our country is to be a posh, rich, womanising, law breaking, racist liar, it escapes me as to how ex mining communities could possibly stomach voting for the party that destroyed their communities and livelyhoods, i myself could never vote tory without being physically sick.

I was in a well known store on tuesday and i saw a special offer stating Bernard Mathews turky crowns 1.5-3kg £5 off and normally £15 so i had a dig round the turkey crowns and found one with a label stating it was 2.8 kg, on taking it home i told my son that its weight in lbs would be around six pounds so i dug out my digital scales and found it only weighed a little over 3lbs and its actual weight in kilos was 1.6kg, i thought my scales were out so i grabbed an unopened bag of sugar and weighed that and it came in just a few grams over a kilo as you would expect because of the weight of the packaging, i took the turkey crown back to the store complete with my scales and demonstrated to member of staff who changed it for me and was very apologetic and offered a replacement and needless to say i weighed it befor accepting it, so even if you have already got your turkey don't believe the weight on the label as you could have a turkey like we got which was far from bootifull.

I wonder if he can spell patronising tory tw@, saying this when its clear the tory party are enumerate ie 18.500 nurses remaining does not constitute 18.500 new nurses, it is merely a continuation of the status quo.

Chesterfield Discussion / If you are buying chestnuts beware
« on: November 21, 2019, 06:26:43 PM »
Today i bought a pound of chestnuts from the market (opposite M&S) for £2, so far out of 8 chestnuts only one was edible the others were rotten or mouldy it is clear they had been water damaged, a lot left in the bag are springy when you press them which we have found tend to be mouldy ones, i will not be buying chestnuts from the market again this year, i intend to buy them loose from a supermarket when i can press them and inspect them closely, perhaps i am partly at fault as i saw some on the display had traces of mould on the wide end of the chestnuts and i should have walked away.

Politics / vote Brexit Party get Tories
« on: November 12, 2019, 01:48:07 PM »
After some alledged behind the scenes communications between the Tory Party and the Brexit party the tories will not be contested by the Brexit Party in existing Parliamentary seats, two things spring to mind as a result of this decision firstly it denies the Brexit Party supporters the choice of who they wanted to vote for in a shameless attempt to force them to vote Tory in the upcoming General Election, secondly it seems to me that Farage (pronounced garage) is still a Tory supporter.
When you consider that Farage has been banging on about democracy for years i for one do not understand why he is denying his own supporters a choice on who they can vote for, i regard his actions at an attempt at manipulating the democratic process and i think that it would be better if the Brexit Party members should just join the Tory Party in order to clarify their position.
