100 years old and still driving
« on: August 14, 2014, 04:27:33 PM »
Did anyone else watch this last night on ITV.
I was out for awhile and hubby though I was recording it so we missed a lot of it.

:-? Quite scary at times but we had to laugh.

I will be checking to see which channel will run it again as we want to watch it all.  :-?  :))

Yes, we watched it - I agreed with the statement that one of the drivers sons made, that it is up to "us" to try and ensure that our parents are encouraged to 'hand over the keys' when the time is right.

I remember having to convince my Dad to stop driving when his illness made him less safe to drive, this was doubly difficult as he'd been a professional driver (bus & coach) for most of his working life and had numerous safe driving awards.

The older I get the more it preys on my mind too.

Don't worry mate - there's always one of these...  ;) :))

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I saw it, bit scary at times, but some of it looked a little, 'for the camera', especially the driving really slow with a queue behind them. They were following the camera crew who must have been driving slowly to get the shot.

It's on again on Itv 10.50pm

I watched all of it and just think that 100 yrs is too old to be in a car at the back of the wheel.
Imagine the driver pulling out of the large Whittington roundabout.
No traffic lights and other drivers belting round in the wrong lane and suddenly swerving left to come off  :-?
Scary
