Market Horse to go
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:11:58 PM »
In this weeks DT is the announcement that they are getting rid of the horse that services the market.

Surely the horse's role, certainly from a tourist's point of view, is worth investing in? Or am I missing something?

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

That's so typical of what I've just mentioned in another thread. !!

What a shame to get rid of the horse, it has to be unique for market towns to have this ????

Amused that people on "the other place" are saying how much they will miss the horse but can't even get his name right

I see that "The Council's response" on page 11 of this week's DT trots out (pun intended) the idea that "New health and safety laws" are to blame for Ben the shire horse having to be retired. I suppose it makes a change from all these bloody illegals, coming over here and doing it for less. As some may have seen before, I dislike seeing "Health & Safety" being hid behind in this fashion. Perhaps in next week's DT they'll tell us what exactly these "new laws" are.

Hooray! A local scrap merchant, Geoff Deaton, has stumped up the money to keep the market horse, Ben, for at least another year.

Good man! :)
