MTU settings.
« on: April 28, 2012, 09:00:43 AM »
Checked mine, was getting 100% dropped packets.
Lowered the MTU setting to 1400, now getting 0% dropped packets.

I didn't know what MTU was - and after a look at the Wikipedia entry, I still don't. What a boring page that is...

I too prefer your postings when you've been drinking - especially if I've been drinking too.  :-[
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

It 'is' the Techie board  ;D

Basically, data is sent in chunks over the internet.
If a chunk is too big, it fails, and has to be resent.
This effectively slows your internet connection down.
Depends on your computer, modem, and  who your ISP is.
Lowering the 'Maximum Transfer Unit' size should mean less fails, and a faster connection.

In Theory  8)

And yes, having a drinky poo as I type  ;)
