Price of the Derbyshire Times !!
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:01:26 PM »
Fetched my copy yesterday from the coop in Bolsover. I handed it to the cashier who dinged it and said a pound please. I passed him the subscription voucher I had, said cheers mate, and left.

Just been having a read through said paper, folded it, put it on the worktop and noticed the price  £1.05
So when were the DT going to tell it's readers it's had yet another price increase.
Doesn't bother me as such. I have prepaid at a reduced price.

You mean to say it generally does have stuff in it worth reading - apart from the Obits!!  ::)

Most weeks then. :)
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

A mate of mine's dad was in the obits, I didn't know he'd had passed away.
By coincidence I saw my mate in Boza this morning. At least I didn't put my foot in it and ask him how his dad was.
Many years ago whilst visiting Shirebrook market an ex fellow boza miner asked me how my dad was, I replied he's still dead.
He'd forgotten about it and I'd not seen him for some time. The look on the poor guys face  :))

I use the online obituary announcements and light candles/messages on relatives birthdays/Christmas.
Rather do that than on facebook!!

It went up last week, despite me saying in Smiths "oh I thought it was going up this week$ they insisted it was still £1 so that's what I paid.

I still have a souvenier edition from the 1990s when it was 30p so it works out at an average annual increase of about 6.5%. Would be nice to have my salary index linked to it.

Strangely they don't want to debate it on their Facebook page.
