Concorde. Airline's Appeal :P
« on: March 12, 2012, 06:37:55 PM »
That plane was a marvel. It flew near faultless for 30+ yrs.
Until it hit a bit of steel on a runway that had fell off another plane.
Take it from me, it's dificult to swerve at 120mph. The pilot didn't have a chance.

They should never have scrapped that plane - it was one of mankind's greatest aeroplanes - a true icon of the 20th century.

If you had the chance, who wouldn't want to fly on Concorde?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Hope its mothballed, RAF conversion to bomb Falkands runways if Argentina tries it again.Get there in double quick time.Rather like the Avro Vulcan which did actually do the job. Shared the same engine as Concord although later modified.Apparently.
Great plane, furthermore great engineering, and a shame it had to come to an end like it did.

Technically brilliant, but financially didn't work. I think  it was scrapped due to the cost of running it rather than the Paris disaster. Maybe if someone discovers / invents cheap aviation fuel they would bring it back....until politicians taxed that fuel so much we get back to where we are now.

I once saw this plane in the sky --- like a huge bird - very impressive. Shame it had to go

This advert, recently on the box, went through all the planes since they were invented and the end sequence showed them all flying away together. Concorde flies through the big modern planes at the end like an E Type Jag.

I happened to be in London when it first went into service and saw it take off from Heathrow - it was very impressive (and loud!)

Brill video Pete  :)
I once had the 'pleasure' of watching Concorde land, and take off at Finningley Air Display. 80's.
Was also very surprised by it's size. No where near as large as I had imagined.

I've always wanted to go to an air display, but never made it.  :(

But one of the most impressive videos I've seen was recommended by Little Fishy on CF - enjoy :)
