Eating out

(1/2) > >>

Sorastro:
We try and eat out at least once a week, alternating either breakfast or a lunchtime carvery.

Went for breakfast to De Rhodes, never been too enthralled with with the food there in the past but it's been passable until yesterday. It was  really below par.
I am under the impression that when one goes out for a meal the food should be at least as good, if not better, than what you get at home. I certainly don't shell out good money to have an inferior meal which is what I got yesterday so De Rhodes has lost my patronage. Now I'm sure they won't lose any sleep over that but judging by the other reviews they seem to be getting people's backs up... mine included, so they're off my Christmas list.

Fly:
It was the first place I ever went that had cauliflower cheese as a carvery option.
Hate the thought of the stuff.
Not been since.
Bad review I know, was probably 15 years ago lol :-)

Not heard of this place...I generally eat out in pubs out of town...

De Rhodes pub Barlborough on the main road to Worksop........your not missing anything.
Apparently it's the same pub chain that run the Young Vanish in Glapwell and the Woodend in Huthwaite both of these are far superior.
I put a tripadviser review about my visit and just got the "Sorry we didn't meet your expectations" guff, in the review I missed out how the staff were non existent in the pub all the time we were there because they were all in the kitchen screaming and cackling like a coven of witches.

Old Cruser:
We move around for eating out places.
The Blue Bell North Wingfield ( Carvery) booking needed
The Greyhound Higham. (Sunday Roast) are two we use Booking needed.
Harversters, Smithy Pond, There's one in Newbold Olde House
We also have called in at Tansley Garden Centre ( they do a carvery) on Sundays.
Over the years I think they have all had their blips and we've given them a break for awhile - maybe it's to do with the Chefs??
We are going to Nandos this weekend for a birthday celebration Haven't been their for ages.
Six Halts in Clay Cross - I won't go there!
Actually there's a pub in Clay Cross which has a good name for food but I've never been as yet and can't think of the name!! ::) :(
