Not sure Dave. I just used the terms OC had used  ;)

Equality Act: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/equality-act-guidance
DDA: http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/the-disability-discrimination-act-dda

Looks like the DDA is solely targeted at disability. Equality covers age, sexism etc.

Here ya go Fly

https://www.gov.uk/equality-act-2010-guidance

I'll try and get to the Market Hall sometime next week and see how it checks out.

Got you Dave, it all comes under the Equality Act  ;)

I notice, 'another place', has mentioned the lack of disability access too.
I won't slate the poster as he thinks we might.
At least he made it clear he had copied it from somewhere else.
This issue does need looking into.

Had to have a look after reading your post Fly, the way it was written was out in the open so no problem with it.

The post mentions concrete and levelling the step but to be honest in my opinion once a wheelchair user was inside the shop (or whatever they are called) they would block the area,  I didn't walk inside ( I actually just stood there gob smacked) but not sure if there was enough room for w/chair users to turn right around or if they would have to back out.
Total congestion.
maybe someone else who uses a wheelchair and tried it may tell us.

Toilets

The old ones which were accessed on the side of the Market Hall were more adequate to me.
Ok they were out dated, but kept clean and plenty of room inside to work around the caree

I think I read a sign which said Changes Rooms  on the Market Hall outer wall- correct me if that is wrong.
Initially on reading this I though oh brill I know of these

This the link to changing places  (not rooms) in Sheffield which I thought they were going to be.

https://www.signpostsheffield.org.uk/out-about/changing-places.html#bottom

Anyone who is out with a disabled person can check on line if there are any of these if they are going to an unfamiliar place

I am not suggesting CBC should have spent thousands on a toilet like the above although it would have been brilliant, but they could have least made sure that carers (some disabled people need 2 carers) could get around the wheelchair to give support by making the rooms  large enough.

Just can't believe they had a blank canvas and did this, still shaking my head.

When the toilets were on the outside the ladies' may have been east to access but the gents' were down a large flight of stairs

Slacker: yes the loos were down a set of stairs. This refurb was an opportunity to correct this. Obviously an epic fail !!!

Been a week now since I emailed Toby Perkins asking him about his views on this subject. I got the automated response from his office saying they had received my email. Still haven't had anymore correspondence from them.
I've just posted on the darkside, a similiar post to this. Obviously if I get a reply from Toby, It will be on here first.
Bit sad that we can mention them, but we get, 'told off', if we mention us over there. Are they scared of losing members ?
