New Queens Park Baths.
« on: May 27, 2015, 09:58:48 PM »
Just seen these shots on the internet of the new QPLC baths. Still not sure if the whole venture is/was a good idea TBH  :-X

Do a comparison with the proposals for leisure centre at Clowne, bear in mind Bolsover council tax is at least 50% higher than Chesterfield, then decide which is better value for money

Don't set me off about the proposed baths in Clowne  ::)

How do you get to 50% higher?
£1,061.52 in a typical band A Bolsover.
£988.17 in a typical band A in Chesterfield.
Don't be clever showing me the highest Bolsover area against the lowest Chesterfield area.

Break it down into the district /borough bit, your figure includes county / fire / police

So therefore the basic council tax can be cheaper in Chesterfield, but add the county / fire / police bit on and it makes the average band A price about the same as an average band A property in Bolsover.

Ours is 1005.83 of which 96.59 is CBC making the rest 909.34
If yours is 1061.52 take off county/fire/police of 909.34 this leaves your local tax (appreciating that some of it is provided by town council) of 152.18
ie approximately 58% higher than CBC

Is the chap in the second picture having a slash in the pool?  :))

Might've waited until they filled it... ;)
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

So we both pay give or take the same as I said in the first place.
Your example is just for those bothered about political figures.
You make it sound like I'm paying 50% more overall council tax for living in Bolsover  (y) ;)

A couple of good slashes and that hole would be filled Pete  ;D
God help the public when it's full of students  :P

No I'm comparing what we get for our money in council tax. What's better students (local people) having some use of it or little or no leisure centre?

Slightly shorter because 25M is acceptable for competitions but 33 isn't

The old pool was built deliberately not to competition standards so that it wasn't constantly blocked out by galas etc

Is the new one built not as wide so the gala's will be smaller affairs, giving the college students more swimming time ?
