right then techies
« on: June 29, 2013, 10:02:57 PM »
My computer...which im ready for throwing out a second storey window has started blue screening me (you know THAT screen)
On top of this firefox and windows explorer are both having problems...
Seems that memory might be an issue although i checked it not that long ago and it was fine. Could it be the hard-drive? I dunno i'm asking you lot

BSOD. Blue Screen Of Death usually means hardware failure. HD, Memory etc  :(

Not sure I'm up to thinking straight tonight emmz  ;)

Are you brave enough to venture into the casing. Unplug the computer from the mains electric first.
Hoover the power supply vents, it might be over heating because of dust. My lappy needs this regularly.
Check all cables are connected properly. HD/CD/DVD ribbon cables etc
Possibly remove the memory modules and reseat them. Touch a radiator copper pipe to de-static yourself first.

If you get BSOD make a note of the long code that comes up.

Google it and it might narrow the problem down.
Im a bomb technician.  If you see me running, try and keep up
