I took my 2 teenagers their pressies today ;D
They both stood there on the door step, and thanked me for the bags of pressies.
We had a little chat, wished each other a happy xmas, then I left :'(
They're limited to what they can say, cos their mother was stood the other side of the door.
We can't all make some decisions for ourselves in life, others may get in our way :-(

we have the same every year. 3 of them open one present put it to one side and hold hands out for the next one. No thanks from the mother. When we next see what we bought its usually broken

Sent my kids, and the daughters boyfriend, a, 'Happy New Year' text on New Years Eve.

Wednesday this week, stood on the rank, and saw the ex and my son walking towards me.
Son immediately turned his head towards his mother, 'talking', and walked passed me as if he hadn't seen me.
Twas only when I said quite loudly, "Eyup ******", he stopped, and before turning round said "Eyup dad".
Ex said "Oh, it's your dad ******". He turned towards me, I said "How y' doin", he replied "Alright".
Turned away, said something to his mum, then they both walked away !!
'Cheers for the poxy £50 dad, you tight f@@ker.' I could have coped with that. But NOTHING.
Suppose that's how sheltered, ruled by my ex partner, 19 year old lads act nowadays.
Can't wait for the correspondence next week when they don't get their spendo ::)
If they can't be arrised, why should I.
What constitutes the start of a mental breakdown ? I'm sure I'm heading for one ;)
It's good to have friends though :)

They've probably had years of wondering, and being told why, by their mother :o
I do understand where your coming from :)
Why do you think all this grieves me so much, and why I started the thread.
She left me, and the kid's still give me grief, well they did, still not heard from them.

My Mum & Dad split up when I was 10 yrs old. I allways stayed at my Grandmas and Grandads at weekend so Mum and Dad could go out. When only Mum came to pick me up and said *** has left me, I did'nt know what to think, specially when Grandad came out with "well, you are the man of the house now son."
It had a profound effect on me, it would any kid,their parents breaking up.
It made me resolve to never to that to my kids if I was ever lucky enough to have any.
My wife and I have two great Kids, and the Wifes not too bad either! I love em all to bits. We've had some very good times, and also some terrible times but come out of it one way or the other.
Curiously, 43 years after Mum & Dad split up, they are still great friends aged 77 and 80.
I would not like to think though that my kids would ever shun me in the same way that yours appear to be doing; its not nice and obviously hurts you, especially if you do right by them.
Chin up Mate - they will come crawling at some point - usually Bank of Mum and Dad!! :'( ;D ;)

It is funny how things happen. Just before Christmas met my ex father in law, he mentioned how my ex wife came over every Sunday, so I went and met her. We got on like a house on fire. There is always a way you can get round things.
