Looking very nice Gert, funnily enough yesterday I spent some time emptying some of my troughs as the plants were dying off.  :(

Next year I will buy plants rather than bulbs.

Thanks Alsatian.  I'm hoping it will look even better before long.  And funny you should say that about your troughs.....  I moved some scented stocks from the garden into a trough, and now the perishing things are sulking big style.  I guess they didn't like being disturbed.  Shame really as they were doing really well, but I decided I wanted that space for something else (as you do!).  Mistake to be learned from.  :(

My troughs/hanging baskets and planters aren't doing as well this year either, wonder if it's the rain? :(

Think it must be 'cos when I emptied the troughs most of the bulbs were quite wet and soft.  :(

At last, four bamboo plants go in to the new corners of the back yard - only taken 5 weeks!  :-[

Tip for anyone tempted to use bamboo; wait until the end of the season. Plants that were going for £30/40 during the summer, just bought for £15 each. :)

Anyway, here's a picture of our new-look backyard.  :)

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

It's looking really good, Pete   ::)

Is there a price reduction on Pandas at the end of the season too?  It would be a shame not to get a couple with all that bamboo around.   :P

It's amazing how the removal of the footystand makes your garden look a lot longer ;-)

Slightly off topic but, walking through t'park t'other day and there was a heron at the side of t'lake! I took a photo of it with my phone, intending to post it on here - when I uploaded it to my laptop it was just a dot in the distance!!!

This was taken in Graves Park earlier this year with my camera, and the pics been zoomed in.
I wouldn't have even attempted a shot with my phone.
