It's an award winning Hotel.  Modern interior, good restaurant, centrally located for football and near to the town centre.

Or are you just sending him, and having a quiet night in by yourself ? ;D :P

Went to Ringwood Hall earlier this month to celebrate a family birthday. Its probably 5 years since we last went. It's altered quite a bit - bar is new and modern, and there have been some tasteful modernisations to the general decor whilst not destroying its original character. Service was terrific meal -wise , even brought us extra carrots & chips for no extra charge.
Have not stayed there overnight though, so can't comment on that.
Drinks are pricey though :-\

if you want to talk about Drink prices there's no such thing as a cheap venue when it comes to hotels.
I've never stayed at the Casa but I've had a couple of good 'do's ' there.
The last time we were at the Ringwood was at a golf club dinner. A lot of people complained about the meal though mine was ok but they did refund us a fair amount of money. I will say that the bedroom was b100dy freezing, it was mid November but the hotel heating didn't come on till 5pm

Been to two or three wedding does at the Ringwood. Wouldn't have rated it very highly. Perhaps its recent update might change my mind.

@ Alsatian and scimitar   both sound a good idea ------  ;D

We have been to the Ringwood only on one occassion to a wedding reception and enjoyed it.
The wedding cake was chocolate and by the time they came to cut it it was leaning to one side  ::)
Lovely venue for photo's outside though if lucky enough to have a dry day.
Title: Re: casa Hotel ---- stayed March 18th 2013

We enjoyed a lovely stay here, the hotel is great with welcoming and friendly staff.
Large bedroom room which was sound proofed as is all the hotel.
Tasty food - would go back again.
Great for that special occasion.

By people who hadn't looked at it from a distance. It has to be the ugliest building for miles.

Welcome back Dave :)

Can't be my eyes, I went to Specsavers yesterday. On a scale of 1 - 10 of architectural merit where 1 is 'none' and 10 is 'exceptional' I'd give it -100

(Nice to be back)

The photo didn't completely capture the rue 'twist' of the clock but it's certainly original.

Yes, but I'm not saying where my other hand was when my girlfiend took it...  ;)

Sorry Pete but purple lighting can't disguise it during the day time when it looks like a couple of Lego bricks. Remove the top two floors which aren't part of the hotel and it's just ugly, dull and totally without imagination.

This any better? Superb piece of architecture.

Mind you, apparently I'm one of those who protest every time a new building is to be built... So I suppose I should dislike it.  :P
Title: Re: casa Hotel
Post by: Pete on March 23, 2013, 05:34:41 PM
I think the other two floors are part of the design...  ::)

Anyway, I won't be going out taking pictures of it in the daytime as my girlfriend is busy during the day.

Take the same photo during the day, I think you'll find the lights are tricking you into believing it has merit.

C'mon Dave, don't beat about the bush - say what you mean!

Actually I agree with you 100%, it reminds me of metal containers stacked on top of each other, and the top ones slipped!

I was looking, at Google images, for a cantilever building I saw in Manchester that won a major award for architecture - and this is what I found.

Stunning!

Why am I not surprised that the Casa doesn't feature in a Google search for 'modern+award+winning+cantilever+architecture'?

We will get used to the new photo Dave, just very different from the last one. Going back to the hotel the inside is really lovely so don't let your opinion of the outside put you off. The only thing we were disappointed with was that there was no swimming pool. It didn't spoil our stay though

At least when I'm inside I can't see the outside.
