Chesterfield Discussion / Food Banks
« on: March 01, 2013, 03:31:02 PM »
I was really quite taken aback this morning when I read on a poster that in our village there is a food bank.
Silly really and I don't know why I should have been baring the recent times we are going through.
I know of them in cities - just never brought it closer to home in my mind.
How do these food banks work?
Can people just drop in and collect food without being checked as to if they need it - I know of a few who would take advantage - would give them more for booze and fags!
Really sad times we are sinking into - yet money is still being given away to other countries  :(

Take away the market and it's a bit sparse - unless you know the layout of shops.
Chesterfield is spread out and many visitors won't realise this (or maybe want to leg it around) - how many for instance would find falcon Yard?
Maybe not much down there but it's just an example.

Good grief surly people on your street know what you do?
Seems you can't have a sh --- break in piece these days, as you say the police followed it through though

@ JR my thoughts exactly - I am sure they would have done their homework on that!
Interesting though that they 'may' be a contender for the co-op? I suppose it's about the size one would maybe expect from Debenhams

Overall, not actually a bad day  :)

Business a bit slow on Thursday's then. I suppose you will make up for it on another day

It seems Sports direct are taking over the Republic shop in Chesterfield, whether they intend to open another S/D or keep the Republic clothes shop open is unclear from the news paper report?
Maybe someone else could enlighten us on this

:)) yes I would habe been like you Aitch!
Regal and un-swayed by the sight of a man in the nuddy - plenty to giggle at but not sure why it is seen as threatening behaviour - unless he was wagging it about  :-[  to music piped in the shop could it have been 'my dingaling'?  ::)
Oh yes boys we girls can talk dirty sometimes  :P I reckon we should start a Dirty Girls talk section- eh ladies  ;)

Chesterfield Discussion / Naked Rambler trial adjourned

This trial is now set for April 24th. Stephen denies the charge of threatening behaviour after he entered a shop in Castleton naked.
I am always in the wrong place at the wrong time  ::)  :))

I haven't heard anything but am going into town later so may well be cheeky and go in and ask!
I think there may well be a lot of rumours about different places closing probably due to what has happened with the Co-Op and others.
My daughter was asked if she had heard the Super drug was closing a couple of days ago - I Googled it and couldn't find anything so decided best not not post it on here as we still have no idea if the 'Law Centre' closure is right.
No doubt the truth will out eventually.
