DCC V The Snow

 It's been a very long winter with snow coming and going through out.
Many I suppose think it's been too long and are now like me fed up with it.
How do members think Derbyshire gritting services have coped with it all this winter?
From our village point of view and compared to other winters I think Derbyshire have improved and have seem more on top of things.
Would this be because they have learned from winters past - or is it that the weather forcasts are now more accurate and so give the gritting services a chance to prepare for what's coming?

It was good of DCC to send a snowplough past my house during the snow earlier this year - pity they hadn't instructed the driver how to lower the blade...

ooooppppssss - I take you are not impressed then by Derbyshires snow clearing efforts this year?

Haven't seen any yet....

Less routes than there used to be, they are now split into primaries and secondaries (latter only gritted in working hours). Tractor ploughs used more I'm lest couple of years. Better coordination with Chesterfield now.

It was a tractor plough I saw 'working' in Chesterfield near the college.

Where have all the 'snow buddies' gone today?

Probably staying indoors until the warmer weather comes.

Personally I think DCC do quite well as a rule.
Bouts of weather like we are having now are becoming more the norn, and DCC don't get caught out as much.

As said before, just wish councils, County, or Local could clear some of the side roads and estates.
Our street is mainly elderly people who can't get out and about.
Did my bit this morning and fetched a newspaper for the old lad who lives on the end of our block

Nothing important where I live, just the college, chamber of trade, university department, a funeral director and temporarily the Derbyshire Times so no one will be inconvenienced if the roads don't get cleared.
