General Discussion / Re: Wayne Couzens
« on: October 02, 2021, 12:07:20 PM »
I for one agree with most of what you say, on newsnight last night it says that lone women who do not feel safe when approached by a policeman should ask him questions as to the reason for the stop and if they still feel unsafe flag down a bus or run to the nearest house.
What a load of total bo**ocks every one knows that most cops have an ego bigger than their intellect and as a result when you start questioning them as to their actions unlawful or not they become at best verbally beligerant and at worst violent, any woman who questions a policemans reasons or intent is likely to get tasered or beaten to within an inch of their life with a metal baton usually assisted by three or four of the cops mates who have heard over the radios and turn up so that they can enjoy a bit of entertainment beating a member of the public to a pulp.
The only reason a member of the police finds him or herself in the dock is that the rest of them have not figured out how to cover it up, couzens himself was investigated for wrongdoing and had anybody acted on the red flag he might not have been in a position to do what he did, i think the clue is in the title it is not the police service it is the police Force and a large majority of uk police seem to revel in the latter rather than the former.

having worked in service industries for the latter part of my working life including having to go into peoples homes to repair tvs vcrs sat recievers i can definitely say that a small number of customers could be challenging however from a customer service perspective i would not used the words you used to describe paying customers.
Iwill also point out that the behaviour of a number of bus drivers leave a lot to be desired, from indicating and imediately pulling out into traffic, just this week one bus driver went straight through a red light on a pedestrian crossing outside avenue house surgery, pulling up on codwell ave leaving the back end sticking out and blocking traffic when there is enough room to pull in, also speeding up the wrong side of the road as they had to overtake a vehicle though said vehicle is 200 yards away, also i was on peak bus when a bus driver for chesterfield omnibus purposely crashed into the rear lights of one of the peak buses to force them into taking it off the road, then there are the surly drivers who give the impression that picking up passangers is a pain and i still have not got round to bus drivers showing total contempt for certain people who pay their wages by moaning about them and  calling them flotsam and jetsom on a local forum, a real credit to the profession i am sure.

Am i to take it that people who cannot afford a car or are unable to drive due to to old age infirmaty or disability, and as a result can only get around by using the overpriced public transport system are to now be labelled as flotsom and jetsom?.

the three times i can remember problems on the road with lorry drivers were on driving back from yarmouth in the rain with warning signs of slippy roads i had a lorry tailgating me for miles a lady driver in front of me stopped ahead of me to read a map and the bernard mathews lorry started flashing lights and using his horn as i slowed down before i overtook her i held my phone out of the window as i had instructed my son to call the police if the driver continued tailgating  and he took the hint and pulled back.
In june of this year i was returning from skegness ann the stretch of the A1 and as it was raining and i was holding around 50mph and a lorry behind me started flashing his lights at me and tailgating me ecpectingme to speed uprather than him overtaking me.
On another occasion i was driving from bogner to western super mare on a dual cariageway and a lorry which was overtaking me decided to pull in while i was next to his trailer forcing me onto the grass verge.
More recently i was travelling behind a lorry on coniston road and as i came to the junction opposite the dunston pub the lorry carried straight towards the pub and blocked traffic from the left and right of dunston lane and put on his hazard lights i wanted to go left so as i stayed behind the lorry the driver got out and said rudely did i not see his hazards and that meant he wanted to reverse to park up so i should go on my way but turning right i told him i was not going to take shouted instructions from him and i would go when i was good and ready he told me to go now so i told him to go away and urinate.
All four lorries had one common thread they were all british registered lorries, also it is a long time since i read the highway code but i am sure it does not say that turning on hazard lights means you are entitled to block the road prior to reversing to park. so i think that lorrie drivers of any nationality have both good and bad drivers.

What gets me going is these idiots on disability buggies driving in the road, they have no lights on and though on the road they do not obey the rules of the road, i nearly drove into one at night pulling out of a junction straight in front of me, i had to slam on the brakes and he had the cheek to tell me i was the one in the wrong.

Its hilarious, the government are going to introduce special visas to EU foreign lorry drivers to come to britain to alleviate our delivery problems, so much for brexit being good for britain can anyone out there tell me what brexit benefits we have had so far, the yanks have told us there will not be a trade deal, we are now begging EU nationals to come into the country to deliver our stuff, our fishermen are having problems exporting their fish into Europe, we are unable to take meat products into Northen Ireland, inflation is rising, what is even more amusing is that one of the forums members ( i cant remember who) said that having less foreign lorry drivers on our roads would be a good thing, as far as i can see there has been only drawbacks to brexit with no upsides.

52
He also states anyone who was “sure” about whether Leave or Remain was right has a “screw loose" and that wether it was good or bad would be decided by history, he also says that the £350m on the side of the Brexit Bus was there simply to wind up the opposition, these statements are truly disturbing as the Brexit supporters Cummings himself included were stating as a fact that a Brexit Britain would be better than a Britain that remained in the European Union.
It is certainly a truism that so far i have yet to see or experience any of the advantages that were supposed to flood into Britain as a result of Brexit and so far i have only seen the reports of the negative impacts of brexit.
The Tory Party have in some ways been exceedingly lucky in the fact that the covid pandemic has dominated the news and thus kept a lot of the brexit pit falls out of the news.
If i was Dominic Cummings i would be laughing my arse off for doing the equivalent of convincing the turkeys to vote for Christmas by saying to them you will not end up in the oven and then after the turkeys have voted saying well yes you may end up in the oven afterall, i wonder how the referendum would have gone if the brexit supporters had said "anyone who was “sure” about whether Leave or Remain was right has a “screw loose" and that wether it was good or bad would be decided by history" it is clear that the leavers were sold a lie however the majority of the hard core leavers will never admit it even if everything goes to pot.

Firstly i was watching newsnight last night and the opening section was about the abuse the young black players had received, and it took less than five minutes before once again banging on about 1966 complete with black and white film footage, there are no limits to the excuses the media will find however many years apart to bang on about 1966. from what i have seen on the TV it is doubtfull that the majority of England supporters were even born on or before 1966.

Alsation i take your point about the abuse of the term heroes and have even taken issue with its use myself, as a few examples "boy band heroes" "guitar heroes" and even "tennis heroes" you even have that self important tw@ Paul McCartney who every time he is seen in public holds up the V for victory sign as if he is some kind of hero rathe than an ex member of an overated 1960s boy band, however when one considers the abuse black players of all sports have taken over the years i submit that these sportsmen could possibly claim to be heroes because they know they are putting themselves up for extreme derision and abuse.

Me too!!

I have never hidden the fact that I don't like football, although {apart from a few friends and immediate family} I have never shouted it from the rooftops for the obvious reason that if you tell a football fan you don't like "The beautiful game" they think your a weirdo.

Sorasto i suggest you think like me and think stuff em, as far as i can see football seems to be more about tribalism than any geniuine love of the game, what would happen in tennis if Roger federer fans started a mini riot at wimbledon in an atempt to attack and beat up Andy Murray fans. i can see it now all the wimbledon ladies in their best Sunday hats pelting each other with bowls of strawberrys and cream and trying to batter each other  to death with brollies.

My experience of school football revolved around the teacher telling me justifiably i was useless on the field of play and so as a result i ended up in goal where i proved myself to be even worse, i watched with disinterest as the oposing team were charging towards my position and kicked the ball past me as i just stood and watched, the teacher came marching up demanding what was that and i informed him that as these people had taken such trouble to get the ball into the net who was i to spoil it he went beserk and sent me back to the changing rooms for the rest of a double lesson as a punishment, it was no punishment as i was halfway through a gimlet book which was in my satchell and thus enjoyed immensely my early afternoon PE lesson.

For as i long as i can remember i have hated football with a passion, i remeber as a youngster as being about as interested in football as going to the dentist or having my tonsills out, i remember being forced to play this uterlly dreadfull game at school and totally screwing it up.
However i must express my deep and abiding dissapointment at Englands loss to Italy tonight, this is no Damacine realisation by myself that i have been wrong all of my life but a realisation that i must go on listening to the Newspapers and TV going on about 1966 it was my fervent hope that England won so everybody would shut the hell up about 1966 and we could have another so called glory to bang on about for the next 55 years, alas it was not to be so back to 1966 it is then.

Chesterfield Discussion / covid restrictions to be extended
« on: June 14, 2021, 06:22:26 PM »
Boris announced today that covid restrictions are to be extended for upto four weeks, when you look at what is happening with the indian variant i myself think it is the most sensible course, Andrew Lloyd Weber came on the news straight after the announcement claiming that big stage musicals were not financially viable with only fifty percent of allowable aidience, so every cloud as the saying goes.

Do you really think what ever colour of Chesterfield Council flag is going to change the world  :)) :)) :)) :)) 8) (y)
getting rid of corrupt institutions of any colour flag may not change the world but it would sure be a hell of a start, and it is only derision and apathy by some people which prevents this happening.
