Ben Bradley {who?} for mayor
« on: April 02, 2024, 01:09:14 PM »
Having received our polling cards for the 2nd May election presumably to elect a Police and crime commissioner {salary 78k per year} and not forgetting a Mayor I have had just a very quick look at the candidates and what they offer in the leaflet that came with the poll cards.

It is alleged.........
Among Ben Bradley's promises, as Mayor, is one claim to "fix Derbyshire's roads". Apparently at the moment Ben is the Council leader of Nottingham County Council and there appears to be an online petition for him to resign due to the appalling state of Nottinghamshire's roads.
As for the prospective incumbent for the role of police commissioner it would appear she has been in the D.T. over plans to demolish a perfectly good police station in Killamarsh  and spend over a million building a new one, whether this expenditure is totally necessary remains to be seen.

Either way I won't be budging come May 2nd.

So tomorrow's the big day, if what I've read about Mr. Bradley is anywhere near the truth I shouldn't think he'll earn enough votes to retain his deposit...still stranger things happen in politics, there is talk of trying to get Boris to come back and that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

There's an extended programme on tonight giving the results as they come in, might just see how you know who has done.

If he's voted in as Mayor there's something drastically wrong, either his opponents are a tin of beans and Donald Trump or he's the only one in the race...........we shall see.

Apparently Labours Claire Ward has been elected as mayor with 50,000 more votes than Ben Bradley but even he got almost 130,000

That Angelique Foster she's lost as well for post as P.C.C. that's gone to a Labour candidate as well, over 25,000 more votes.

I've heard from two sources that the mayor is now going to be based in Chesterfield.  (It was originally going to be Nottingham.)  I don't know where she lives, but let's hope she has a long and potholy drive to get here!
