CFC Chaiman Barrie Hubbard to retire.
« on: April 03, 2012, 08:15:29 PM »
Barrie Hubbard has decided at 73 years of age to retire as Chairman of Chesterfield F.C.
Dave Allen is tipped to take over with a further appointment to the board to replace Barrie.
This man has steered the Blues through troubled times (remember the Derren Brown fiasco),and helped keep them going. He also helped to mastermind the B2Net stadium.
He's been there for almost 30 yrs, and before that a lifelong supporter of the club.
I, for one, would like to thank him for his undoubted support for the club, and to wish him a long and happy retirement.
Thank you Mr Hubbard :)

Happy retirment at 73 ?
Me thinks this man is 100% Chesterfield FC  :o

All the best Mr Hubbard. I'm sure the CFC crowd respect you for everything you've done for them  :)
If they don't, they should do  :D :respect:

I just wonder who the new invited board member will be, assuming Dave Allen is the new Chairman.
Mr Hubbard has indicated that there will be a new member. Bearing in mind the proximity of the Casa Hotel, the Perez surname springs to mind.
Local entrepreneur, Town fan apparently, built on old site of Bradbury Club as well I beleive.
Could be wrong - my speculation-but I hope I'm right (for once - my wife will tell you that I'm not with alarming regularity!)

Dave Allen as chairman, a Dave Allen appointee to the board?
Sheridan going nowhere in  the near future then!

Sorry - tried to reply to you. T'internet went off, so here I go again.
Dave Allen is on the board at CFC. Barrie Hubbards retirement will create a vacancy for the Chairmanship which Mr Allen has been invited to fill. This will leave a vacancy on the board to fill Dave Allen's place.
My speculation, and that's all it is but I would love it if I was right, is that it could be the owner of the Casa Hotel, the development on Chatsworth Rd., where the Bradbury Club was; local boy made good and sometime rally driver called Perez?
Apparently a big fan, and probably no mistake(I'm guessing again) that the Casa Hotel is so close to B2Net stadium.
Entiendes Amigo?

John Sheridans job is apparently safe even if we are relegated.
He has a 4 yr contract and Dave Allen says their is no point in sacking him even if we go down (as per interview with Radio Sheffield).
He's at least acknowledged that they need to sit down and re-stucture for next season.
But at least the club is secure, in no small way to Barrie Hubbard, which my original thread was about.
Come on You Blues!
