We tried it for a while (though not in Chesterfield) but there wasn't the customer take up to justify the cost.

T**** got too big too quickly and diversified into areas they shouldn't have in an attempt to 'rule the world'.
The problem regarding their store is they relied on their demographic models and market trends when deciding that this was the right location to build such a store. The problem is the people of Chesterfield don't conform to national trends, never have and probably never will.
But in their defence (bloody hell JR is defending T****) they aren't the only ones. When their new store opened we were told that the profiles indicated that sainsburys would lose £X in sales to them for the first week or so then it would calm down and we would only be down by £Y.
I turned round and said we would indeed be down by £Y initially but after the novelty wore off we would be £Z up on the deal. Guess who was right? The powers that be surprise surprise had to admit we bucked all national trends. When the boss asked me where my prediction came from I told him 40+ years of experience of the people of Chesterfield including 25+ working for them!

The plans are no doubt factual given that anybody can walk into the town hall and look at them. It's not however the planners who have come up with them. They are merely tasked with the job of recommending approval or refusal to the councils planning committee

An amusing comment but factually incorrect

Theres several outlets going in there not just DP's.
Apparently the place is a bit of a mess at the mo with lots of building works and stuff being moved round.
The place was a bad idea from day 1. it takes a lot of money but not as much as they hoped. i think they expected to run us out of town.

I think the point is that the 'big' 5 (leader deputy chancellor home and foreign) are all men. The Tories have one woman at the top table in Theresa May. That said once Harperson Kendall and Cooper are ruled out there aren't that many big hitting women currently in the Labour Party.

Last I heard the entire staff in there had been issued with a blanket final disciplinary warning for the poor performance of the store.

In 1992 John Smith recognised that a left wing Labour party was unelectable in Britain following the success (?) of Thatcherism.
He started the process of modernising the Labour party.
Tony Blair took up this work and whilst you can argue that he went too far in some areas he laid the work for Labour to be in power for over a decade (something now that the revisionists like Slacker would want you to forget).

Whilst there might be an appetitie in Scotland for socialism (and they do have the advantage of not having to foot the bill for a lot of things) I doubt very much that there is the stomach for it in England.

Asfor the right wing media again it's amusing that no one was complaining when the S** supported Blair.

There was something in the press a few weeks ago saying that if someone wanted to re-open a similar establishment there was nothing the council could do because the licence was already in place.

Brian. My mum used to be friends with a lady whose husband was in the mines rescue, he would have been mid 60's onwards I would think. She was Gill he was Gordon. Racking my brain for the surname but can't be sure, might have been Colley

25.2m in benefit fraud in 2014 and a further 18 odd in housing benefit fraud. The problem however is that fraud isn't the major issue, it's people playing the system and managing to legitimately claim many 000's
