Market Place
« on: July 03, 2024, 09:05:26 AM »
Well, the work has started....the top half of the square is fenced off, a few paving slabs lifted, the stalls have now probably been chopped up...heaven knows what it will be like with the new look....
I go there Monday mornings for the classic car show in the new square...but the future doesn't look good for that....We shall see.....

You know the old saying.."You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear"

Money down the drain. I sincerely hope that lot on the Chesterfield council don't have a say on the Clay Cross re development otherwise that will go the same way.

It is taking a while...but the bases are in place for the new umbrellas that will...should....shield the market traders from the weather...
I have a look every Monday, when I go to the Classic Car show with my silly car....

Called in town the other day, can't honestly say I'm seeing an improvement on the market place, slow going as well.

In the end all that time and money for a slightly tarted up equivalent of what they had before, don't forget when it's done they will still have to fill it.

Page 2 of this weeks D.T. on what a spiffing job they're doing tarting up the market place. "Over 90% of the original cobbles will be reused" apparently.

Who the hell wants to keep walking on cobbles...I don't for one.

Oh and by the way someone is planning to build a few new houses in the Goytside area, I hope they're building them on stilts because correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it flood round that neck of the woods every Monday Wednesday and Saturdays?

Walked down near Dents this morning and had a quick look at the cars, my favourite was the "poor mans Rolls Royce" the Rover, those               motors when they first came out were head turners {and they still are}.
