Talking about motor cycle tests takes me back. When I took mine you did a figure 8 down Elder Way along Knifesmithgate along Cavendish Street,up Saltergate back down Elder Way then right on Rose Hill up the side of the Town Hall  back down Saltergate down Elder Way and so on.
At some point on the test the examiner would jump out from between two stationary cars and you had to do your emergeny stop and that was it.
Crash helmets were not compulsary then  and  two weeks after I passed my test I was followed and pulled over by the police at Unstone for doing 32mph in a 30 zone.He gave me a right rollicking because in those days many youngsters were killed driving motor bikes. In fact about a year later a mate of mine was killed  outside Coalite when he hit a lamp post.I decided then to get my car licence and be much safer.

I have been out and about this week.Twice I have been on the M1 in the  50mph average speed  area  between J29 and J28.On both occasions I was in lane 1 doing spot on 50mph  and was flashed at and pipped at presumably to speed up but  neither of the cars offered to get in lane 2 and overtake.

On Tuesday I was on the M55 in Cheshire where a similar average speed system is  active. The number of cars that flew past me doing between 60 and 80 was unbelievable.Did they know something I did not?

I would say three points and a £60 fine is beckoning for many of them

We started going with Jet 2 after problems with frequent delays with other operators. At EMA it just means that instead of standing in the normal queue you go to one which checks your bags in and away you go.
I presume other operators have a similar system.

While  we were in Fuenguerola we caught the train to Benalmadena. As you know the station is a good  mile away down Heart Attack Hill (a mate of mine actually had a heart attack trying to walk up it)to the beach.
There was no way we were going to attempt to walk back up  so we had a taxi for about 3 euros back to the station.
I think the trains and buses are brilliant compared with ours and so much cheaper.

It really depends what sort of holiday  you want.Palma is obviously worth a visit and Puerto Soller on the West Coast is supposed to be worth a visit(never actually been myself).About 40 years ago we went to the pearl factory at Manacor but I am not sure whether it is still there.Caves of Drac  as well.
I must admit our kind of holiday is to have a stroll in the morning, round the pool for a swim in the afternoon and go to a bar in the evening ,have a pint and people watch.
We have been to most of the resorts in Majorca  and I have to say there is not one that we would not go to.
My favourite place in that area however is Santa Eulalia in Ibiza -love it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome  Fly.I forgot to say that you can walk to Magaluf in about fifteen minutes. You know when you are in Magaluf because  in Palma Nova there are small grey concrete balls every so often at the side of the road which become black when you enter Magaluf.
We have also been to the San Matias Beach Hotel  which is next door to the Santa Lucia and whilst we were there the entertainment  at night was brilliant and I suspect you can easily just walk in,but that was about eight years ago.

We went to that hotel about ten years ago.If I remember every room has a sea view.I think we  were on the 5th floor which was brilliant. There are plenty of bars and eating places within a couple of minutes walk.
We are going to Alcudia in June which is really nice.Hope you enjoy it.
