You'd better ask Apple why their ads say its thinner then...

May I ask if you've ever had an iPhone Simon?

I havent ever had one.  I have an Ipod touch so cant see the point in having 2 things which more or less do the same thing.

Im upgrading in October to (hopefully) Samsung Galaxy S3

Why don't you try an iPhone Simon?

Here's the new iPhone 6 - it's a darlin' ain't it?  ;)

I expect it means the launch of a whole new set of apps without backwards compatibility. Can't even put Facebook back on mine now. I'm told Android ones don't have this problem. Overpriced for what they can (or can't do)

Had an iphone, and in its day it was a revolution. Now however it blends into a crowd of other capable devices. Though apples persistent attitude to doing its own thing rather than embracing and collaborating with other technologies will be the demise of the iphone imho.

Removing Google maps is the first of a line of big mistakes I think they will make.  I won't be going back. Ill be stocking with android, and the wife will probably leave apple when her iphone 4 contract runs out.

The number of legal cases apple is involving itself in now would suggest to me that they have decided to try and beat the opposition by stifling their products rather than inovating their own.

Well Put. I Will stick With my Samsung Galaxy s2, and if required, s3

I'm sure some of these other smart phones are great. My problem is since the late 80s I have used Apple Mac kit for graphic design and the software we used was not available for PC.

Nowadays my iPhone, iPad, MacBook and desktop computer all talk to each other - and to change to PC, which is so much cheaper, would still cost an arm, a leg and several other body parts...  :-?

Also, over the last 20/25 years I have heard so many tales of pc owners talking all weekend to install a new system and having to rebuild after virus and malware attacks that I would be largely against a complete change.

One thing about Apple kit is that it just seems to work - and I have never had a virus or been infected by malware. This peace of mind alone makes Apple the option for me.
