My son recently dug this bottle up from his garden. It is complete and in very good condition but I cannot find any information on the company. can anyone enlighten me as to the company and its history for my young grandson. thanks.

P.S. It still has some of the contents in it which still smells sweet and of lemonade after all these years.

The factory is now demolished and was near to the cemetery on Oxcroft Lane. It was at different times Pru. Smiths or Meridian and made garments for Marks and Spencers and Fred Perry shirts. It closed in the 1990's some time.

Can anyone help me with this request.

neil@oldminer.co.uk www.oldminer.co.uk
Neil.
Dear Mr Bridgewater,
Thank you for replying to my daughters E mail, sent on my behalf.
As she has said I'm sure, I worked as a Bevin Boy at Langworth (MUST MEAN LANGWITH) prior to being transferred to Glapwell for coal face work. I helped to face out when the first weight came on. I worked night shifts packing and drawing off until demob.

I am interested more now than I was then ,as to the depth, district &  face number of the seam I worked. I can only for your information ,and mine ,describe how I arrived there every night. Leaving the cage, walk to doors then ride a paddy ( encased cable ) sitting back to back, alighting half way,and descending a very steep long drift, then turn right to walk the roadway to the face seam about 3ft-6ft high.
We are struggling to get any information, maps or dimensions, from the coal authorities, you are, I am afraid, my only hope.

Thank you for your time.
yours sincerely,
G R Morton.

Hi.
Im not going to get political on this one, but somebody has a lot to answer for.

I remember the 'trunk bundle system' that took your money up in a pod via a tube to the nether floors and sent your change and a receipt back down.
The children's horse ride with a round push button on it like the ones the old buses had.
The model railway with 'real' steam coming from the engines.
Was it Meccano that was motorised and working in the window or Leggo.

Sad Days.

Hi Again.

I have been talking to my dad tonight and he tells me that during the war a Nissan hut and anti-aircraft gun emplacement was built on top of the mound and was serviced by the army to protect the Tube Works.

PS.

Maybe I aught to call it St. Augustin's Mound as opposed to Mount.

Hi.

Yes you are right but as a kid to me the mountain or mount was the one at the bottom of the hill, the old pit tip, kinda stuck that way in my mind and I like to remember it this way but yes St Augustin's Mount is the road up the hill and not the pit tip.

Hi.

You are right I was thinking more of the colliery craft and practical side of the mining college moving to the new site at Grassmoor.

The station was built before 1924 and was still in use as a rescue station at least until 1979.

Incidentally the houses nearby were built to house the full time men by the NCB as it was part of their job description.

Under the name of the North Midlands Coal Owners Association Rescue Station Company LTD. The full mines rescue teams and their fire engine would turn out for the local council......... for a charge. £5:5s turn out fee, £2:2s per hour and per part of for the engine and 5 shillings per hour or part of for the men whilst away from the station.
