TBH, I was getting fed up of it. They were doing it to death.
Terrible tragedy though but the UK has news we want to hear about as well.

One of my friends posted on F B that they hadn't received any birthday cards ( Notts area)
He checked at local posting office and apparently was told posting to his area had been stopped for awhile.
How do they justify that.

Ohhhh, I'm pleased my hubby isn't on here.
He's been banging on about the price of  stamps since before Christmas.
I would be interested to see if your logic worked though.

I don't believe so O.C. we were in town yesterday and nothing. I think if  there was anything it would be in the D.T. tomorrow.

OK thanks. It was on the news that some were protesting on Friday.
I do need to go into town but unsure which day I'm going to make it.

Marra is Scottish or a very old word of England I believe.
Means friend or colleague.
It's not Derbyshire slang  as I know of.

I was debating what topic to put this under and this one I believe fits the bill.⁹

Yesterday I was in C/C hospital waiting room and someone had kindly left a paper on a seat so I perused it. One item that caught my eye was a Chinese gentleman, shopping in the West end of London was robbed of his watch, Rolex or a brand very similar and just as expensive. It turns out this watch was a gift from his wife and the cost {get this} over 300,000 pounds, turns out he had been "mugged" by a bloke that had only recently been released from prison for stealing/handling stolen Rolex watches.

Now one would expect someone to admonish the miscreant, and rightly so, although I can't help but wonder if the "victim" in this shouldn't carry at least some of the blame... why!! well walking round in one of London's biggest blackspots for pickpockets etc, for a start, wearing a watch that is the equivalent of winning the lottery on his wrist he's just asking for trouble, and it turns out he got it.
Yes If you can afford the finer things in life why not treat yourself but the vast majority of people out there are not so fortunate. Flaunt your wealth with other like minded {and wealthy} people  in your own surroundings but don't go around rubbing people's noses in it, £300,000 just to tell the time.

If I ever won the lottery I wouldn't be so vain, besides I wouldn't know a genuine Rolex from a snide so the question of me buying a Rolex would never arise.

My hubby wants a new watch. I've looked in the jewlers abd was surprised at how much they have increased in price

Chesterfield Discussion / Derbyshire Slang

Just thinking about our Debrys⁶hire slang. It's surprising how people from villages close by speak differently at times.
Years ago I remember  shot was a shirt.
Shirting was shouting and yes we have the Derbyshire ducks.
Gerrof
Shurrup
Taytas
There's lots more  :))

Typical America............. blizzards sweeping the country....wildfires in L.A.

This could be a portent of things to come when the Trumpster is inaugurated, hell on earth.

It's such a large country. Doesn't seem possible to have Wild Fires and Snow! Awful for those living in both conditions though.
Not braved Tesco's as yet, I'll give it another couple of days!
