Yes Eckington Hall was on the left just before you got into Mosbourgh  housing estate now , had a few laughs in there .

I'm not up on the pubs past but Iv been told the building itself is listed and that Enterprises Inns own it. Their is a guy who been going in since 1959 told me a man hung himself in their . Asset part relates to the pub business and preventing it becoming another business

. It's possible that Enterprise can sell the building and a change of use can happen unless it's a community asset.

Is this a DCC ruling - re An Asset ?

No idea I think the council have something to with it. Went past that pub that sort of below ground -Pacfic ? the place looks ransacked and not trading across from Argos shop.

Yes we also noticed the pub was empty yet again - too many pubs and not enough people who use them.
It's cheaper to buy booze from a supermarket and sup it at home with a take away!
It's what many do today isn't it - socialising is 'out' -

-- except for tonight when we have a forum meet --- ;)

Yes the 'Asset' is to do with the council !

The Oak now only opens after 6pm not a good sign.

Looks like you may be staying in Sheffield then for your pub visits

Looks like it . Their was a pub - Arbourthorne Hotel rough but OK across from me now boarded up and going to be torn down for more flats.  Problem is my mate doesn't like Sheffield pubs.

Two choices then.
Meet up half way - or
Find another pub in Chesterfield

Just Googled the Arbourthorne Hotel. Now I realise where it is. That's the Manor Estate isn't it ?
I've heard very mixed stories about that area over the years.

Back to local pubs, wasn't it the Welbeck that only used to open day times, not nights?

Near enough. Manor estate is next up from Arbourthorne below it is Norfolk Park estate. All areas have their problems but its much better than when it was when I first arrived. The Arbourthorne Hotel had a murder five year back plus before that got burnt down in a arson attack after these events  the Police really cramped down hard since the pub closed its got quieter now and is a decent area. Welbeck where's that one?

Blimey yes the Welbeck we used to go there it was very popular. Always smells good when we walk past these days as they do lunches, it's got maybe 2 steps to get into it though so not one we can use with daughter.
Of course there are others as well around Chesterfield - depends what type of pub you are wanting to use though I suppose.

The Spread Eagle was always a good drinkers' pub, down by the police station. Quite an historic building too.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
