Back in a snowy January 1984, I was on a team building week in Castleton as part of my pit training.
A group of about ten of us were dropped off at the Snake Pass on the A57, middle of nowhere basically in about 2-3ft of snow.
Between us, we had to decide the best way to make our way over Kinder Scout and down into the Valley.
We were to camp out over night, and be picked up the following morning.
Kinder Falls was like that back then. We sat and had a snack sat at the top watching the climbers ice pick their way up it.
Btw, even though we were wearing all the right kit, it was the coldest I have ever been in my life
How the homeless live through the night in winter is beyond me
