Who forgot to wind the clock?
« on: February 01, 2014, 01:59:58 PM »
Drove into town around lunchtime, the hands on the clock on the crooked spire were at something like 4:35 - the two sides I saw looked different. Did someone forget to wind it?

Maybe the workings have rusted with all the rain we have had!

10pm this evening both Market Hall & Crooked Spire chimed at the same moment (I was near your patch on Packers Row Fly). I don't know if they have all the clock faces synchronised yet on the Crooked Spire.
It must cost a small fortune to look after/repair clock workings like that.
I'd heard, (don't know how true), that when it thundered a week or so ago that the Church was struck, the clock stopped at twenty past four, and some tiles were destroyed.

Been like it all day. Don't know if it stopped last night or this morning.

Joking apart, it doesn't look good when every visitor to Chesterfield looks at the crooked spire and sees the clock telling the wrong time.

Maybe the workings need attention, how old is the clock? Does it have regular services?
