They should move into the old Tesco building. That's still empty. And probably terribly expensive to lease....

that idea was banded about just after Tesco moved.  There were plans to move Argos and Homebase in there together but it never came to fruition.

I think I've mentioned this before in another place. I'm 99.9% certain that the 'old' Tesco cannot be used for retail purposes, one of the planning conditions for the new one.
Perhaps Slacker could ring one of my former colleagues to confirm?

Neither CBC nor DCC would be able to justify spending the amount of money required to put a new road in. Firms like Tesco take over towns bed-cause they do have the amount of money to spend on such things.

I've heard that Tesco is good at buying land and then just leave it unused for the sake of killing competition. I didn't think that covered stores like Homebase and Argos.

If Ghosthunter is who i think it is (putting 2 and 2 together and making 5) I think he will know the facts.
Be a shame if it does go, the New B & Q is rubbish in terms of customer service.

I have Slacker on my facebook?

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

September 2012 is the scheduled opening but I assume they will try to get done sooner

Hope they intend providing better access in and out of the retail park, or it'll be a right PIA - at least when Focus were there they didn't attract a large customer base!  ;)

Went to Ravenside today to Pets at Home and was impressed how the new Debenhams site was coming on - looks quite big. This picture was stuck on the fence so I took a shot with my phone.

Also, add into the mix that Screwfix is opening up a store in Chesterfield. Not sure when or where it will be, but I did hear Derby Road.
